hey! i really like animated sesame street characters
gallerycharacters from animated segments in sesame street (specifically from 1969–2006) have been my primary hyperfixation for so long. ive always really liked sesame street (when i was really young id watch stuff like number creatures segments, abstract count segments, etc.) but coming back with appreciation for its lesser known characters has influenced my artstyle in so many ways. my heart goes out specifically to teeny little super guy, cecille, martian beauty, julius + jasper, and a couple others really cool ones. ive always loved older characters, electronics, and media for children (my favorite series of all time is mr. men and little miss) and sesame street has genuinely got me enamored so much as a result (im attempting to get into the muppets show 1969 and other stuff too)
excuse my tangent but the point is that i really like obscure sesame street characters. heres some art of them and props if you read through this entire part of this post

What Episode is this?
There’s a small segment featuring a young Black girl and an adult man, who I’m assuming is her father. They fly over Manhattan and eventually pass by the World Trade Center. The clip looks like it takes place sometime in the 1980s or 1990s.

How many episodes has Roscoe Orman (Gordon’s actor) appeared in?
I can't figure this out in short order and I was hoping there might be a few people here who could help me. Tried asking on the Muppet Central Forum/fan site but got no responses yet.
I was reading Roscoe Orman's Wikipedia page yesterday and the "filmography" section said he's appeared in 254 episodes of Sesame Street. I have to imagine that in 40+ seasons (starting from the beginning of his tenure in 1974 and not counting his hiatus from the show from 2016-23), there's no way the number's that low, right? Unless they haven't produced nearly the amount of episodes they claim to have produced and there are hundreds if not thousands more repeats than I thought.
Sesame Street was producing 130 episodes per season for almost 30 years (29 seasons to be exact, before the number was reduced for season 30.) Even if half of those were repeats (existing plots with inserts changed around and given a different episode number), that would still mean that they produced roughly 1,560 unique episodes over the course of his first 24 seasons. I haven't checked the math but I have a hard time believing they've done that many repeats (or that Orman has done so few episodes compared to the number that have been produced during his time on the show.)
I know Gordon wasn't in every single episode, but what I'm getting at is that 254 seems remarkably low. I removed the "254 episodes" number from Oman's Wikipedia page because it was unsourced and I couldn't verify it offhand.
Can anyone please provide insight? Thanks all.

Parental Guidance
I’m 41 and having my first child and trying to decide how to expose my kids to Sesame Street.
I just imagined that the episodes from my childhood (late 80’s/ early 90’s) would be available somewhere but, that’s proving to be trickier than I would have thought so…thinking through backup plans:
Buy the “Old School” volumes- I would likely enjoy these, from clips I’ve seen on YouTube-with that scary Snuffy…. but I don’t know how these land with kids- the look of the puppets and story lines seem a little “darker”
Sell my soul and expose them to the post 2000 episodes ( Elmo/ Sesame Park (I’m in Canada) …) which I personally don’t like but I bet kids probably would
Or
- Collect the 5-10 available DVDs/ VHS of 30 minute sing-along and “Best of’s” from the 90’s- and “Follow That Bird” ….and never give up on finding more?
Any advice appreciated

Sniffy Revealed
I’m a first time mom. When I went back to work at 8 months PP my son stayed in our home w my mom. My mom introduced Sesame Street to him.
He LOVES/ LOVED it. I was a bit annoyed my mom was introducing screen time to him.
Now., he is 15 months & THRIVING in every way. We watch it together. “Brushy Brush” is not only the song we listen to when brushing our teeth, but mom has a playlist every morning for car rides. (Including some songs she listens to on her own from SS)
My son & I truly enjoy watching & learning Sesame Street together. I deep dived one night as he was fast asleep & found this -
When I tell you I got chills & started crying as I spooned my son as he slept - I always knew it was a show of so much purpose, but this. This brought tears to my eyes & has me holding my son a bit tighter when he wants to dance to The Count

New-ish to Sesame Street: Must-see episodes
I never really watched Sesame Street as a kid, not sure why since I watched Barney. I have an almost 2 year old and we've slowly started introducing screen time (TV only). I'd like to get her started on Sesame Street, especially some of the older episodes from 70s-90s, but the fact there are over 50 seasons is pretty daunting. So what are some of y'alls favorite episodes? TIA!
