Friend of the show Gav Cooney leaving the 42
Just seen that Gav Cooney is leaving the 42, find him one of the better contributors on Second Captains, any word where he's going?
Possibly OTB, fill the Joe Molloy sized hole, Irish Times maybe. put together a more substantial sports pod like indo sport?

SPL fix?
x.comCeltic benefitting from worst VAR call ever. Let's hope the lads don't get Rich Jolly on again to waste a show whining about how uninterested he is talking about referees 👍

WiFi Wanker Real Madrid - La Telenovela. This weeks episode: The Golden Cleric Speech
reddit.comKen was spot on with his Pérez/Trump comparison on Monday. Check out the breakdown of tonight’s press conference, pure rambling nonsense from Florentino but way more entertaining than the usual Comunicado Oficiando.

WiFi Wanker Off the Ball lore?
Hello
I’m from New Zealand, came to Second Captains in the late-2010s, love the pod
Id love to hear from someone in Ireland about their path from the radio show to the pod.
From what I’ve pieced together they had a pretty popular radio show, Off the Ball? And then there were some contract shenanigans and they went off and did their own thing?
How big a show was off the ball? Was this a massive media story in Ireland? What were the problems they faced? Has it been subsequently seen as a successful move for them? How well-known are the lads in Ireland, are they like celebrities in their own right? Is Ken seen as the big star of the show in Ireland or is it Murph given the GAA stuff? Was Murph a really good GAA player, like what level was he? Most importantly, does anyone trust anything Ken Early says about football?

Flame-haired Flamethrower of Truth Looking forward to Ken’s rant
Arsenal have the rugby tackle at corners mastered apparently. The irony of seeing a goal ruled out for their keeper being impeded when they’ve spent the whole season, including this same corner, manhandling every opposition player in sight is hilarious.

Book club
Sorry if it's been done before but does anyone have any rankings for the book club entries (the books themselves not the podcasts).

Rumble in the Bernabéu
As much as I was looking forward to the Seve episode tomorrow. I’m now need at least 30mins of Ken laughing his way through the absolute basket case of this week’s episode of Real Madrid.
Valverde and Tchouaméni having a full on punch up in training with the former being diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and being stood down from the Classico.
Surely Jose is the man to throw petrol on this wild fire.

Friend of the show What team was Saka talking about?
This genuinely perplexed me. I only heard the clip over the pod this morning but I'd be interested in seeing his face when he said it?
I'm 90% convinced he's talking about PSG. Leaving aside the 'revenge' angle from knocking Arsenal out last year, they are the team in Europe, with the most intimidating and damaging style of football. Surely Saka wants to beat the best?

WiFi Wanker "We all follow the Arsenal OVER LAND AND SEA"
Why is this something the lads all seemed unaware of when discussing the tifo. They sing it every match.

What was the quote? Toy box stadium? What did plucky Villarreal ever do to Ken?

Do they play the audiobeds as they’re recording?
I assumed they just add the audiobeds in when they’re editing the podcast, but sometimes they refer to an audiobed that has just played. For example, today Eoin referenced the Young Eoin Jack Charlton audiobed that had just played

no Monday football podcast this week?
Or is something wrong with my podcast feed?
It's become such a part of my weekly routine that something feels wrong when it's not there! Then again as a Liverpool fan maybe I'm better off not hearing it this week.
Tuesday edit: Crisis averted, we got some football today with bonus 'Ken on the road' chat so all is now well in the world.

Friend of the show GAA coverage downward spiral…
Great to hear Oisin back on the football episode but unfortunately the relentlessly boring Paul Flynn countered the humour that Oisin brings.
Perhaps a new low for SC’s GAA coverage was Flynn waffling on about McGeeney’s 10 (ten!) year project at Armagh. Is there a bigger bullshitter on the GAA circuit at the moment? Probably, but he’s right up there. The worst thing is he’s on every second podcast/ RTE match at this point. Cant escape the fella.
BTW am sure he’s a sound fella but Jesus Christ him & Murph are everything wrong with the SC’s at the moment. Boring, bland and full of themselves.

Commentary
Just thinking about Ken's story from a few years ago when he said he was doing commentary on a game and had to watch it on telly and pretend he was there but got caught out by what he thought was live but was actually a replay.
Do premier sports, virgin, rte etc send commentary teams to all champions league games or do they pipe it in?
