Texas is the size of a country, and it contains multitudes. It's really frustrating when people act like the red states are lost, especially when the only advice they have for folks in them is to leave.

I live in Houston, which is the size of the state of Connecticut and has more people than several states. I teach in a public schools system where I have openly (and not openly) trans and queer students and my classes contain more immigrants than not. My district hasn't banned a single book.

In my experience, Houston and Austin are both quite progressive. I don't live in Texas but have friends from there and am familiar with queer communities in both cities.

I view Dallas as more conservative but not sure if that's really true or not? idk but I think it does still lean Democratic politically.
