Gap in Peen?

I recently received this Type 18c sword by Swordier and noticed that there’s a gap in the peen. It’s mostly on the one side but the other side has a slight gap too.

Should I be worried about this? It’s wide enough to fit a exacto blade through the gap. I’ll contact Swordier and see what they say but is this a normal amount of gap?

As a knife and sword Smith, if the pommel isn't moving it'll be fine. Keep it oiled so rust can't develope.

…so you’re saying he has to make sure he has to oil his peen regularly
