Gap in Peen?

I recently received this Type 18c sword by Swordier and noticed that there’s a gap in the peen. It’s mostly on the one side but the other side has a slight gap too.

Should I be worried about this? It’s wide enough to fit a exacto blade through the gap. I’ll contact Swordier and see what they say but is this a normal amount of gap?

If by some chance you're not joking, I'm going to let you continue in your innocence. My life was definitely better before I knew.

I remember reading somewhere that the latin word vagina translates to "scabbard" or "sheath".

And so there's lots of examples of comparing a sword to a penis. So this tracks really well historically.
