Mandela Effect

What’s the point of that sub? It’s like no one there believes in it. No one ever gets to talk about Mandela Effects.

I will die on the hill that it was BerenSTEIN Bears. I could read very young, and while my mom was grocery shopping, I’d read from the book stand. It was the 80s in a small town, in a small store, so I was ok being alone while my mom shopped. I remember wondering how to pronounce it. Why do I have that memory if it never was spelled that way?!

That’s my biggest one I just can’t get over. I also remember riding in the car with my mom and asking what does “objects in mirror MAY BE closer than they appear” meant.

This feels like what a government program paid to discredit experiencers would say.

No need for any conspiracy here. You may experience it even with friends, people get annoyed when someone questions reality, they go into "observer mode" and they tell you "it's like this".

I talked about Mandela Effect with close friends and some of them were really pissed off about me believing in this. They started saying the usual things about memories and the brain, bla bla bla, you already know them.

So, I believe anti-ME are genuine people. But they make discussions something impossible. We have memories, some of them really strong!

While you make a valid point, I'd disagree with it simply because I don't subscribe to subs about things I don't like/agree with. Why would people get on subs about things they clearly don't agree with, just to argue with the people there who do believe? I know there are people out there who are like that, but man, there are at least a dozen of those people in every comment thread on every post in that sub.

I've spent 20 years of my life on forums. People love to complain on the Internet, even here on Reddit is not that different but moderation save many boards from being plagued by trolls and haters.

I love psychology and I believe that some people have strong defense mechanisms, they have to treat this kind of information as something that would harm them... why? Because it would question how they see reality. The mind always forces to shut down things that they consider "impossible", searching for the first rational explanation. We see it so many times with supernatural things! It avoids anxiety for them.
