Series 6 lacking something?

Is it the lack of Hattie? Not being on Red Dwarf? Or something else?

On my current watch through I really notice the show start to become a parody of itself and lack the authenticity of previous series.

Can anyone explain it succinctly to a lowly third technician like me?

it truly depends on the person and their tastes but to me all the episodes are bangers.
