So what is it? Series 6 lacking something?

Is it the lack of Hattie? Not being on Red Dwarf? Or something else?

On my current watch through I really notice the show start to become a parody of itself and lack the authenticity of previous series.

Can anyone explain it succinctly to a lowly third technician like me?

Series 6 has its moments, but personally, the best Dwarf is 1-5.

After that it became bogged down with self-referencial humour that became pretty repetitive. Before that I feel like it moved along with his own inventiveness.

Duane Dibley was a great comedy moment, for example. But every time they referenced him in later episodes, it was anything but.

I remember this moment being when I checked out of series 8 and the show entirely.
