What are these number?

Post image

Hello y'all.

Basically, I was trying to apply for a remote job, and I don't know how, but I applied for a job in Canada for some reason.

I answered and I was told that I applied for a Canadian Visa??? I let the other person know that I would take my time to see the places I applied to see what the hell I got myself into. The other person was also strange when I told her that I wasn't sure how they got my info.

I live in Costa Rica, and since then, I have received call after call. To be honest, I don't mind it since most of the time my cellphone is muted or in my locker so I just see the missing calls. It can easily be annoying to other people, but not to me.

I have received an email every day stating that my Canadian Visa was granted and whatever.

They have been VERY persistent, and I have been called by scammers before, but this is another level of insistence. Since I'm not from Canada, I wanted to know if someone can search if these phone numbers are legit or if I should change my phone number lol.

I called the first 4 with caller ID blocked and got disconnected without anyone (or anything) picking up. I called the fourth one with caller ID enabled and got the same thing.

I would say somebody is number spoofing.

Oh, thank you so much for that! That gives more insight that they're probably trying to scam. Thanks a lot.

You probably put your details on a fake ad, and now they’re trying to scam you. I see it a lot with my line of work, be careful about visa scams too!

Everyone needs to be wary of most if not all job listings that sound too good to be true or claim they are remote especially if not listed on a reputable site like workday. Scammers these days understand the desire and demand for remote work is at an all time high. Even if its a lot of work always look up the company listing the ad, the address, etc. it's more than likely any info you gave them was sold.

I'm not affiliated in the slightest and there's some mixed reactions (also not sure if it works in your area) but I used hiring.cafe last time I was looking for work. It got me a job but again some people claimed they had nothing come up in their areas so take it with a grain of salt.

The us has donotcall(dot)gov to be removed from telemarketing lists, you should check if there's something similar available in your region

I live in BC! And my number starts with 778 haha but yea scam calls are so annoying out here.

You likely accidentally put your number into a fake ad and now you are getting spammed with scams! Do not answer the calls, the more you answer the more that will come (at least that’s what I noticed) they know someone will pick up so more calls come in to try and scam you.

Spoofs would be my guess but I didn’t look them up recently. Try your best to look up the employer ahead of time and see if they’re legit. I’ve found the best way to do that is YouTube. A lot of people will report about bad companies on there. You have to watch out for fake people on there too, though.

No, I do not. I tried to post this in the British Columbia subreddit, but it was deleted since it had nothing to do with British Columbia.

I think they were calling to let you know your car warranty has expired!

Scammers, collections, trying to fool you into picking up…
