Linc character development

I know Lincoln cops a lot of hate on here but I actually like him.

I’ve rewatched and it feels like he goes from a stupid albeit softly spoken character with a big heart to a dumb thug in season four. Is Dominic Purcell even playing the same character by this point or just an extension of himself? I read that in season two Linc doesn’t even fire a gun once.

Dominic Purcell doesn’t act, he shows up and reads lines. I doubt he would have any insights on Linc’s character, he’s probably more focussed on suppressing the pesky Australian accent.

I don't know about Lincoln in season 2, but the only time Michael actually shoots anything, it's when he fires into the bank ceiling in the pilot. Lincoln shoots a lot of people in season 4, but it's mostly in self-defense. I rarely see him kill without needing to.

I like him too and I think they sidelined his character in favor of Mahone and TBag which weakened the core theme of the show and therefore season three and four. In season five he is great again.

Starting with S3, the writers seemed to run out of ideas for this character, so they chose to sideline him and reduce him to a minor supporting role. This was also the main reason the show’s quality took a sharp nosedive. Fortunately, the creators behind S5 got the series back on track and refocused the narrative on the brothers’ story.

Linc didn’t fire a gun in season two. He got ahold of a couple but never shot anyone or anything. He did use them as far as pointing them but never fired them. I always wondered if that was on purpose of the Linc wouldn’t actually shoot someone. Even in the flashback during season four when they show Linc and a friend crashing a car he has a gun and doesnt use it. Season three and on he started shooting people
