Where to live, Arberia vs Aktash?

Hello!

I'm moving to Prishtina for the summer and I am looking for an apartment. I will be working in Arberia but have been exploring places in Aktash as well. I hear Arberia is more "diplomatic" while Aktash has more action and is a bit busier. My conflicting priorities are being near the city center and having a reasonable commute to work.

I'd have a 45 minute walk or 55 minute bus ride if I lived in Aktash, vs a 20-30 minute walk if I lived in Arberia (based on available apartments).

Is the long commute to work worth it for being close to the city center? Is it easy enough to get from Arberia to Aktash and I shouldn't feel the "need" to be closer to the city center?

This also brings into question, how reliable is public transit? I've heard it's pretty functional in Prishtina, but would love more perspectives. I also hear people in Prishtina walk everywhere (even when walking paths are lacking) so, would going by foot be a viable option?

Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Always prioritise proximity to work. That’s the one you’ll need every day. Public transport from both isn’t great even though aktash is closer to bus stops generally. You can also rent city bikes and scooters, which are way more convenient than buses. The buses are pretty unreliable. I doubt you’ll be going out to the centre daily so there’s really no reason to go to aktash. Prishtina is small so going anywhere on foot is very possible, just that there’s a lot of uphill roads, as the whole city is kind of a pit with hills surrounding on every direction. Depending on where your job actually is, I think you can also look into tophane as it’s close to both the centre and arberia and the prices aren’t too bad yet

Arberia is a bigger neighborhood so center would be further depending on the apartment. Aktash would be closer to the city, although 45 minutes walk sounds that you are not in Aktash anymore.

Aktash to city center (Grand Hotel) would be 10-15 minutes walk maximum.

Public transport is not good, takes forever to go from point A to B, I would recommend you to buy a bicycle, way easier.

No bicycle. Prishtina is uphill-downhill. And driving in Arberi would be hell.

Aktash is better, but the commute to Arberia would be hell. Don't do it. Live in Arberi. Some of the best coffees are there. Find an apartment in Arberi, but that's closer to the center.

Otherwise, Aktash is on the other side of the city, and you would have to drive an hour to go to Arberi.
