My little pirate NSFW
This is Nayru! She had her right eye removed two days ago due to eosinophilic keratitis and corneal edema/ulcers that wouldn't get better with treatment. The pic is from right after we got her home from surgery
Despite being nearly 15 with a low grade heart murmur and thyroid issues, on top of anxiety, she came through the surgery beautifully and is getting to quietly recover in her own private space (aka our bedroom) away from her "annoying" siblings (who are very displeased about being banished from the bedroom).
I have to give a shout out to my partner who has had to handle all the appointments related to Nayru's eye issues, including the surgery, on his own, because my job is way less flexible than his. I'm also eternally grateful for the staff at the vet medical center we worked with through this process. Even though I haven't been able to directly interact with them, everything I've heard through my partner has been amazing, including the fact that one of the vet techs apparently took time as Nayru was waking up from surgery just to hold and pet her for a while. They even wrote in her discharge paperwork that she's a "sweet old lady".
Anyways, I just wanted to show off the pretty new pirate and ramble a bit because this whole thing has been so emotional. Thanks for listening and, uhh...I guess let me see your pirate kitties too!

She looks like a sweet old lady. 🩷She didn’t need that stupid old eye anyhow! She will be much happier without it! 🏴☠️
