Contract work in Eli Lilly from Dublin

Hi all,

I may be getting an offer for a contact role in Eli Lilly to be onsite 2 days a week, but I currently live in Dublin and am reluctant to relocate.

Was wondering if anyone had any advice for logistics or if anyone is in a similar situation?

Is driving or getting the train the best option? Are there any cheap places to stay in cork 1 night a week?

Any advice would be great thank you

What was the plan when you were applying for the job? 😅

Of the 2 sites, littles island has a train station, but kinsale doesn’t and is difficult to get to by public transport at the times you may want to arrive there. Which site would you be going to ?

Money no object, get the train and stay overnight. Then train to little island. But that’ll get expensive fast. Stay somewhere like the leonardo hotel (Jurys inn).

I wouldn’t give great odds at you being able to keep it up long term, but if I absolutely had to, that’s how I’d do it.

There is a Radisson pretty much next to the little island Eli Lilly global services centre . Rates are no joke in any hotel in cork city, maybe premier inn might be doable .

True and I had forgotten it was there. Little island after dark is fair grim though, not much to do.

It's an odd one, resident population is too low to support bars etc. Half of glounthane comes down there to walk or run loops as the lighting is so good around east gate etc. I will say the upgraded areas on the east and west of the island with the pedestrian , cycle and bus lanes have superior lighting and feel good to use, the central part is next on the agenda and will pull together a bit of cohesion. Still could do with some additional housing , demand is very high in the area

The Midleton Park does rates if you're going to be staying regularly, I stayed there when I worked in Little Island and it's handy if able to drive!

Negotiate before you sign contract, lots of little island employees live in Dublin and come down once per month on extended flexibility agreements

Well you could drive down the first morning and stay in a b&b after the first day, then drive home the evening after the second day.

Could you explain situation to company and maybe something might come of it - in terms of them paying for one night accommodation….

Lots of people in my team live in Dublin, Galway etc and only comes in once a month. Make sure you negotiated this at the start. Only people who live in Munster are required to be in the office 2x a week

Hostels in the city centre (Sheilas) at 30 per night and a bus almost next door.
