Updated Patch Notes:

Added 21 Kalguuran Skills that can be crafted from Remnants: Animus Exchange, Animus Splinters, Bitter Dead, Conductive Runes, Detonate Living, Eternal March, Explosive Transmutation, Fragments of the Past, Frostflame Nova, Grim Pillars, Hollow Shell, Leylines, Powered by Verisium, Rain of Blades, Refutation, Remnants of Kalguur, Repulsion, Runic Reprieve, Skyfall, Triskelion Cascade, Verisium Manifestations, Voltaic Barrier, and Wardbound Minions.

The following items have been removed from the Currency Exchange: Black Scythe Artifact, Broken Circle Artifact, Exotic Coinage, Order Artifact, Petition Splinter, Runic Splinter, and Sun Artifact.

The following items only appear on the Currency Exchange in Standard Leagues: Omen of Corruption, Omen of Homogenising Coronation, and Omen of Homogenising Exaltation.

Legacy Expedition Currency can now be sold to vendors for Gold.

Rog, Gwennen, Dannig and Tujen in existing hideouts have been converted to non-interactable doodads. Speaking to these NPCs will no longer invite them to your hideout.

Existing Primary Calamity Fragments have been converted to Ancient Crisis Fragments.

Existing Secondary Calamity Fragments have been converted to Faded Crisis Fragments.

Existing Tertiary Calamity Fragments have been converted to Weathered Crisis Fragments.

Waystone Modifiers that added Damage to Monsters, Penetrated Player Elemental Resistances, or reduced the Players Maximum Resistances have had their values reduced across the board.

The Waystone Modifier that provided Extra Projectiles to Monsters has been disabled.

The base duration of all Shrines is now 45 seconds.

The "Contains Identified Items" modifier on Strongboxes can no longer roll.

Tablet Modifiers that are no longer functional have been disabled, such as Breaches in Map contain additional Clasped Hands, or Delirium Encounters in affected Map have a chance to generate an additional Reward.

Ignites that are reflected onto a player can no longer spread to other enemies from the player.

Culling strike thresholds are no longer lowered in party play for non-unique monsters. They are still lowered based on the number of players in the party for unique monsters.

New Lineage Support Gem, Olroth's Hubris.

Ice Nova: Is no longer able to originate from Frostbolt while cascading sideways.

Primal Strikes: Now has a minimum Gem level of 9 (previously 7).

Tame Beast: Summoned Beasts now deal 40% more damage at Gem Level 9 scaling up to 84% at Gem Level 20. Now immediately summons newly Tamed Beasts if you have enough spirit. Now has a minimum Gem level of 7 (previously 9).

Spell Cascade: Is no longer limited to supporting spells you use yourself.

The Collapsing Horizon Unique Quarterstaff now grants 100% increased Elemental Damage (previously 100% increased Elemental Damage with Attacks).

The Idol of Uldurn Unique Amulet now also has 20-40% reduced Presence Area of Effect, and 10-15% increased Spirit.

The Road Warrior Unique Body Armour can no longer be obtained.

The Skills granted by the Unborn Lich Unique Staff have received the following changes: [li]His Foul Emergence now has a Mana Cost of 0 (previously 18-189 at gem levels 1-20) and a Cooldown Time of 8 seconds at all levels (previously 25-15.5 at Gem levels 1-20). Inflicted Wither now lasts 10 seconds (previously 8) and Withering Ground duration is now 8 seconds (previously 5).

His Scattering Calamity now has a Mana Cost of 0 (previously 3-37 at Gem levels 1-20).

His Vile Intrusion now has a Mana Cost of 0 (previously 8-83 at Gem levels 1-20). Now has 100% increased Impale Magnitude at all levels (previously 2-40% at Gem levels 1-20), and now inflicts 2 impales at Gem level 20 and 3 impales at Gem level 25 (previously 1 at all levels).

His Winnowing Flame now has a Cast Time of 0.7 seconds (previously 1 second) and has a Mana Cost of 0 (previously 6-68). Grisly Pyres triggered by Consuming Ignites now have a radius of 2 metres (previously 1.5 metres), deal 30% of the highest expected remaining Damage of the Consumed Ignites (previously 25%) and have a shorter delay before dealing its damage.

Crafting methods that puts a single guaranteed modifier on an item now adds it as a crafted modifier, items can only have a single crafted modifier on an item. updated after posting:

All crafted modifiers are now guaranteed, but items can only have 1 crafted modifier at a time. Desecrated modifiers no longer count as crafted modifiers, but items are limited to 1 Desecrated modifier.

The Quipolatl's Thesis Soul Core is now a random Skill that requires Glory which generates 50% of its maximum Glory when your Mark Activates when socketed in Helmets (previously 15%) When socketed in Gloves, it now grants Your Energy Shield Recharge starts when your Minions are Reformed (previously Each Runic Inscription from your Curse Skills causes you to Regenerate Mana per second equal to 10% of that Skill's Mana Cost). When socketed in a Body Armour, it now grants +75% of Armour also applies to Chaos Damage while on full Energy Shield (previously +50%).

The Guatelitzi's Thesis Soul Core now grants Gain Armour equal to 35% of Life Lost from Hits in the past 8 seconds when socketed in Helmets (previously 25%).

Modifiers on Gloves and Rings granting Leech a percentage of Physical Attack Damage as Life/Mana have been adjusted to roll at a lower level, and the first tiers have been removed.

The "of the Parasite" and "of the Thirsty" Suffix Modifiers modifier can no longer roll.

The "of the Locust" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 21 (previously 38).

The "of the Remora" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 38 (previously 54).

The "of the Lamprey" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 54 (previously 68).

The "of the Vampire" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 65 (previously 81).

The "of the Parched" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 21 (previously 38).

The "of the Arid" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 38 (previously 54).

The "of the Drought" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons fromLevel 54 (previously 68).

The "of the Desperate" Suffix Modifier now rolls on Gloves, Rings and Martial Weapons from Level 65 (previously 81).

The "of the Vampire" and "of the Desperate" Modifiers can now also roll on Bows and Crossbows.

The Bogfelled Commoner now has a Spectre variant for the boss version of the monster.

Fixed a bug where Arc would gain it's Lightning Infused stats when not spending a Lightning Infusion.

Fixed a bug that could cause support gems that apply to "Skills you use yourself" to apply to skills being used by clones of you, such as Mirage Archer or Feral Invocation, or to minions you summon.

Fixed several bugs that prevented support gems from supporting Unearth.

Fixed various bugs that allowed disabled flasks to still be used by some effects.

Fixed various bugs with bleed modifiers not working on bleeds inflicted by Spell Hits.

Fixed a bug that caused Bone Constructs summoned by Unearth to stand still when summoned by a totem.

Fixed a bug that caused the Dialla's Desire Lineage Support Gem to still function when it was socketed but disabled.

Fixed a bug where some monsters in the Trial of the Sekhemas were not activating, preventing players from decreasing the timer in the Hourglass Trials.

Fixed a bug where modifiers to melee strike range were described in game units instead of metres. This results in the displayed values being 10 times smaller, but is not a functional change.

I think this is a good change. It reins in 3 problems.

Player power is out of hand which this reduces. Ground loot is worthless because crafting is too deterministic. And people are complaining about currency inflation which is due to missing sinks. To craft the best items you will now need to sink in more currency.

Ground loot is worthless due to the exponential drop off in utility of it. Once you have a 3 stat T3 rare the chances of beating it with drops alone is astronomically low. It too many mods with too many tiers that causes the issue. Tiered loot is the most direct attempt to fix that but it's not working very well.

The ground loot situation is also a lot better than PoE1 because white and magic bases are more valuable.

The main sink needed is divs and there's no obvious way this helps there.

The other issue with ground loot is just supply & demand. Drop rates of good gear need to be astronomically low as to not flood the market.

Gear acquired through crafting both has an associated cost and requires a certain level of skill dramatically reducing the supply.

I honestly don’t think it’s possible to have drop rates of gear feel reasonable and hold their value in today’s day & age. Evidence of this is uniques, you could have meta uniques but if there not tier 0 there still worthless because anything that isn’t absurdly rare instantly floods the market.

SSF with increased drop rates is just a more enjoyable experience.

The worth of ground loot is determined in relation to the crafted loot. If the ground loot is a lot worse than what can be achieved with crafting then its not worth your time picking it up. If its close in power it will be worth picking up.

Okay but if the chances for crafting a good item would be just as astronomically low than the ground loot would again be worth picking up regardless of your bad chance of getting something better than 3 T3 mods off of the ground. Worth is determined by supply and demand and not by absolute power. If something else supplies something of higher power then the demand for the bad items you will find on the ground will go down.

The ground loot situation is also a lot better than PoE1 because white and magic bases are more valuable.

You are proving my point here. White and blue items are more valuable in PoE2 because there are no scouring orbs, so because crafting in that particular case is less powerful.

The value of items relates to game power mostly. The relative value of drops vs crafts is as you say, but both PoEs require crafting to be more powerful than drops (at the higher end at least) so that we have currency sinks and trade is more stable.

While I get your above point in theory, very few people would play the game with such weak crafting because the drops are so bad already. It's why Ruthless is so under played in PoE1 even though from a purely theoretical PoV is should be more rewarding.

Obviously both or points are relative to the content that's there.

I do agree that the absence of scours (or equivalent) is the most likely reason magic bases have value though. The increased determinism in crafting is a necessery countermeasure though. Spamming lots of bases to get what you want is already not very fun.

I would love to see GGGs stats though and see how many people are engaging in non-trivial crafting.
