Advice Needed Low hcg
I got a positive test recently and my doctor said, according to my last period which was around 26th April, my baby is around 5 weeks anf my HCG is too low for that. My HCG right now is 51 IU/L. So is it really bad? I am very concerned and my mind is going in wrong directions. Could you guys help or advice? This is my first pregnancy and is there any way to normalize HCG?

At 5 weeks my HCG was only 81, I have 45 day average cycles and KNOW I ovulated a week later than “normal” so while it was stressful it was also okay.
The biggest thing that matters is doubling time. Do you have it scheduled to retest 48hours after the initial one?

I havent scheduled it in the next 48 hours. But I will sure go for another retest to see what does the progress look like and if my doc agrees, I will get another one done 48 hrs right after this one.

The doubling rate is FAR more important than anything else. If your doctor doesn’t agree, get a second opinion. With PCOS I’d also ask them to do a progesterone check if they haven’t yet.
If your doctor doesn’t want to do a 48 hour, push for it anyways, ask them to do it so you have the doubling rate. A single HCG draw gives you little to no significant clinical information.

First off, Congratulations!!!🎉
How long are your cycles??? With PCOS (now PMOS) its harder to determine the actual dating. When I found out I was pregnant, I literally was just 4 weeks but my doctor was adamant I was 7 weeks based off of my last period. So of course my hcg and my ultrasound did not look good to them at the first appointment.
We waited two weeks and they did a repeat of everything. Guess who was right?
Hopefully they can do a repeat of hcg and a viability scan for you as well

This gives me so much hope! Thank you so much..my last cycle was 45 days and before that 64 days. I was on metformin so there was a huge improvement but yes my doc thinks I am 5 weeks pregnant at least but I think i am not that far along..Hopefully i will be repeating my test on Thursday so fingers crossed..

Sending you hugs!! I remember I was spiraling after the first appointment because I was being dismissed regarding the dating.
My cycles were usually 45-65 days long on a similar timeline. Trust your instincts because you know your period better than the LMP calculations!

If your cycle is wonky I would absolutely not sweat this! Ask for a repeat. When was your first positive test? Did you take a photo of it?

I took it this Friday like three days before

Was it a pretty faint positive?

Oh, good. That probably was like 12hcg (wild guess) and three days later it WOULD be around where it is now. I wouldn’t stress! Just follow up with that hcg and let the doctor know you have very irregular cycles!

As others have mentioned the most important thing is the doubling rate within 48 hours and eventually the first ultrasound. Good luck and I hope it turns out positively!!
FWIW I tracked ovulation using Mira and was always pretty certain of when it was and found that I consistently ovulated at least one and usually 2 full weeks later than most people. It drove me NUTS in early days of pregnancy before first dating ultrasound when I tried to explain this and drs kept going by my last period for dating. In my first pregnancy my due date lined up perfectly with what I knew my late ovulation and likely conception day was.

If your cycles are long(mine too), dating by LMP is very inaccurate as it assumes you ovulate earlier in your cycle like most other people.
I would definitely assume you just ovulated later.
Get your next beta 48hrs after your first one and hopefully it rises appropriately!! Were you tracking ovulation?

A HCG of 51 looks something around 12dpo. Ish. Maybe you ovulated later. It is important to repeat the test and see if levels are increasing
HCG varies a lot, see: beta base info
