Omg yes. I really want to see a side character Queen get her own lover instead of just devoting her entirety to her country.

AaaaaAAAaaaAaaa!!!! Can't believe it!
I hope the daughter is the FL and it's solely focused on her. A completely new story. It would give us the feel of like, being in the known about the past.

I wish she has her own story that she develops into her own character. Please don't be like Boruto but more like JoJo or Belmont family.

???
Boruto is actually pretty good though. It reminds me of how good Naruto was before it just became a flashy chakra laser battle in Part 2/Shippuden.
The taijutsu is so fun to watch!

Sorry, but how is Boruto good?
We are treated to 2 dimensional cartoonishly evil villains like the Ootsutsuki which is a far cry from the Akatsuki. The art is disgustingly bad for what is a monthly manga. Forced conflicts like Naruto being an absent dad despite being able to create thousands of clones and can even spare some to do CHORES around the village. Kawaki being a discounted Sasuke with none of the depth and all the shitty attitudes. And so on.

Naruto being an absent dad is based on Kishi’s own experience and struggles with his family and it honestly tracks. He never had a family so being able to balance his work and family life is something that Naruto would reasonable struggle with. Also it was explained that he felt like using his shadow clones in the office was dishonoring the hokage position he dreamt about. Yeah, no one would criticize him for it, but that was part of the conflict in the early part of the manga and anime. And I mean early that stuff gets resolved really fast. People fixate on it, but that’s basically just the prologue. Boruto and Naruto resolve things and the two of them have a good relationship for the majority of the series up till now. It just sets things in motion.
The Ootsutsuki, especially Ishiki, were a genuine threat. I mean, the fights he had with Naruto and Sasuke were fantastic but it also made it very clear that they’re a league above anything else we’d seen. Also the fact that the most effective thing against them is taijutsu makes the fight scenes so good.
Boruto also goes through so much character growth. Like he’s basically a different character partway through NNG (in a good way), and we see him slowly develop into a proper ninja. I also love how different he is from his dad in terms of personality (he’s more mature and protective) and in terms of combat (doesn’t spam rasengans and has a diverse arsenal of combat skills). The dynamic of Team Konohamaru is also just so much better than OG Team 7, mainly because they’re actually work together like a functional group and their combat synergy is just so good.
Also how is Kawaki discount Sasuke? His whole thing is that he wants to be part of Konoha and the Uzumaki family. But his trauma makes his love turn into unhealthy obsession. The only thing he and Sasuke have in common is that they’re occasionally edgy. Boruto has more in common with Sasuke than Kawaki does.
The current series (Two Blue Vortex) has been a good read too, and I can’t wait for it to be adapted into the anime.

Naruto being an absent dad is based on Kishi’s own experience and struggles with his family and it honestly tracks
Yeah, i know Kishi use his own experience for that, the problem is that Kishi's dad cannot do Kage Bunshin. The concept fails apart very quickly once we add magic into the equation. Naruto can do thousands of clones, and even spare some to do CHORES around the village like helping a granny crossing the street. Yet, cannot spare a few for his own children? Even if he think that using clones to do Hokage work is dishonorable or whatever (which is dumb in itself, that's like refusing to use a computer to aid you in your work), he could've easily send clones to his family so his children doesn't feel like their dad abandoned them for work.
Honestly, I dislike Boruto the character, but he was fully justified in being pissed off. Imagine your dad can create thousands of clones, but cannot spare some for his own family, and when asked, he just preaching shit like "The entire village is my family" while neglected his actual family.
The Ootsutsuki, especially Ishiki, were a genuine threat.
The Ootsutsuki is powerful, no one's disputing that, but being powerful and being a well-written character are two completely different things. As characters (Isshiki included), they're flat and one-dimensional, with arrogance being their only defining trait (Heck, even the white lotus in OI is better). They got some good fights, but the credit for that goes to the animation studio. The fight scenes in the manga are pretty dog shit.
Boruto also goes through so much character growth
Agree to disagree i guess. He changed quite a lot during the manga, but he is still ..... not a good character imo. And jutsu like Uzushio with its pseudo-science nonsense is hard to take seriously.
how is Kawaki discount Sasuke?
Obsession over a single person (Naruto, Itachi). constantly acting aloof (or just being a full-blown asshole in Kawaki's case). Ready to do anything to achieve his goal (keep Naruto safe, Kill Itachi). Has a brother like bond with a "Naruto", etc.
A lot of similarity. But Kawaki is a full blown psychopath who easily killed someone that he said to be his brother in cold blood without any remorse, all because of a perceived threat that didn't even manifest. Meanwhile, Sasuke, for all his flaws, couldn’t bring himself to kill Naruto even when he had the chance. Kawaki's just a sociopathic edgelord version of Sasuke, minus any of the internal conflict or depth.
Frankly, the most unrealistic part is that Naruto and Hinata just... accepting that Kawaki killed their son. Realistically, they would've tearing the asshole apart.
Between the poor character writing, constant plot holes, and bad art, this series is just rough in my opinion. I would prefer some of the trashier OI over this.

Im pretty sure it was addressed that naruto did send clones to like family dinners and stuff but boruto hated that. He wanted his real dad to be present. There was even an episode of i think himawari's birthday, that boruto punched naruto, just to make sure he wasn't a clone.
I kinda understand boruto's pov as well cuz a clone is just, well a clone and not the real thing. Its hurts to know you're dad prioritizes the village instead of you

I liked this story. But not enough for a sequel. I also skipped the extra content because, for me, the story ended on a nice note. All the issues were resolved and the loose ends were tied.
I’m assuming the extra content is about their kids… 🤷🏾♀️

Most of the side stories revolve around the adult side characters. The children are present in them but don't really take focus.

I see. I guess aside from the princess, I did t have much interest in the other character.

u/emurii Jul 28 '25
No, a lot of the extra content fleshes out secondary characters! The extra content was, IMO, better in some cases than the main story. I am frequently disappointed by epilogues, and this was a really good one.

u/nejnonein Questionable Morals Jul 28 '25
Marceau and Catherine’s love story is in the sidestories! Honestly, they deserved their own full manwha, I liked them way more than the mains (and I almost never do).

u/querobala Jul 28 '25
This time, I'm excited for a sequel. The side characters and the kids have so much potential for a really nice story, and the universe is already very interesting.
5
u/TigerKitty32 Jul 28 '25
I may take a look. I enjoyed the side characters. So maybe an extra on them would be a good read.
4
u/SmolAppleChild Guillotine-chan Jul 29 '25
The extra content is about the supporting cast and is honestly really good. Marceau and Catherine’s love story could be its own entire novel, it’s so good! Also their snu snu is better.
You also get to learn more about characters mentioned in passing (like Lucy) who also have sad but triumphant stories.

u/Street_Step375 Jul 28 '25
As you said, it was one of favorites to be honest, great art, likable male and female leads, liked Bianca character development, and it was straight to the point as well, and I liked how the whole time traveling was explained that it’s actually a vision from God to Bianca of the worst possible future, usually either the second chance are never explained or give a really dumb reason, but again as you said, I felt like it had a good conclusion, and it doesn’t need a sequel.
Also I’m wondering how they have a daughter? Did they have a son and the birth was so traumatic, because Bianca had a weak body she died, and only came back by a miracle from god because she is the saintess, but they apparently had a daughter as well.
But all in all I will give it a shot, it might turn out good.

They don't have a son (edit: in the manhwa, at least). Bianca imagined a son when she died, but Alec was introduced as a girl.

I skipped some chapters in the middle (i think). And the extra content. Idk why but I just couldn't keep up with everything.

u/dsherman8r Aug 10 '25
I wholeheartedly agreed with this take and when I finished MoC around a year ago I also skipped the side stories. Probably mostly rooted in my dissatisfaction with how they treated the relationship between the FL and her father- genuinely bugged me that they just moved past her dad essentially selling her into sexual slavery just bc it all worked out well lmao
That said, when this news dropped I decided to give the series another chance and reread from the beginning. Just finished and I genuinely encourage you to read the side stories. One of the only times ever that I truly think the side stories are just as good as the main story (if not better!). The side characters all get done justice and the ancillary romances are at times even sweeter than the main one
Highly recommend giving the side stories a chance if you haven’t already

u/TigerKitty32 Aug 11 '25
I read the first one about the redheaded girl and her husband. I really liked that story. I never knew they were such crybabies and I throughly enjoyed the story of how they met.
Simple, short?, and sweet. I also got a kick out out of the aunts.
I’m actually looking forward to the next one.
1
u/dsherman8r Aug 11 '25
Haha yes totally agreed! I was fully in on the side stories as soon as I read that one
Imo the others are not QUITE as good as that first one (I adore Marceau and Catherine lol) but generally the quality is maintained throughout. Honestly insane how good they are lol usually feels like the author is half assing the side stories but def not the case here
Glad you’re enjoying them!

I'm tired of children designs where the kid has one parents hair and the other's eyes.
15
u/Ash__Tree Jul 28 '25
I was hoping she’d be more tomboyish since he kid self was a super tomboy. And I’m the flash forwards her knight self is pretty masculine as well.
I kinda shipped her with the other grey hair kid but if it’s a full series she’ll probably get with a prince or something

Super excited for this! Marriage of Convenience was a wonderful read with characters who had actual development without the nauseating OPness most FLs have.

YES!!! I WAS HOPING FOR THIS!
One of my very favorites. And the side stories were so good.

I've never enjoyed any series sequels where their children grow up. I just want more fluff and drama side stories of the main cast.

I haven't read this fully but I do believe a lot of OIs need sequels. New characters in the same setting/ next phase of lives.

Is the story good? I’m waiting for the novel to have an official English translation before I read the manhwa.
1
u/Tsunami45chan Jul 28 '25
It's good and the ending is a delight. At the start I hated the marriage because without spoiling that's not fair to her. The villain is hatable, the side characters are great and has their own personality. FMC & MC talk things out about their problems before they become a good couple.

u/Flat_Transition_3775 Jul 28 '25
Ok that’s good :3 thank you for letting me know. Hopefully it gets officially translated in English soon.

Stop stretching the gum, when a story ends, it should end forever and not release a thousand sequels, prequels, and spin offs
1
u/dsherman8r Jul 28 '25
Started this series and dropped it bc of how gross it was seeing a literal child forced into a marriage and then despised when she didn’t act gracefully about the whole thing lol. Seeing the comments shows a lot of people love it, maybe I should give it another chance haha

That's cool! It's too late for him to hate their daughter for killing her mom in childbirth, so I'm rooting for a good old "tragic carriage accident" to change the focus.
Life in Castle-Nim is an endless cycle...

You got the ending wrong. You should read it again now that the prequel will come
