Novel Spoiler for when Jeremy finds out: The children find out on the evening of Elias' 15th birthday, when he saw them kissing on a balcony. The very next morning he goes to Norra's estate, and then they start to beat the shit out of each other. Quote from Norra: "Yeah, so what I kissed your mother, now call me daddy"
Later when Norra and Shuri are on their honeymoon for quite a while, they'll recieve letters from Jeremy updating them on how things are going back home at the estates. Norra always signs off his letters with "Your dear stepfather." He is unhinged
Also: The twins will call Norra Dad, because they were barely seven when Johannes died. To them, Norra was the one to raise them alongside Shuri. He quite litterally is their Father figure, in a way that not even Jeremy could be.
Funny big Spoiler about Eliasās future LOL He hooks up with Ohera (Jeremyās fiancee in the OG timeline) and gets pregnant, so they end up getting married
Curious is the best way of describing it. Unlike Johannes, he feels no possesivness towards her, because he knows Shuri is a different woman to Ludovica. But he observes her, out of curiosity of how she'll do in politics.
As someone who recently started reading the story, the glimpses I see of older Norra on this subreddit are a trip. That little punk grows up into THAT? Dang.
Iāve tried. But itās just one of those OI that I just canāt bring myself to read. I literally, physically canāt read past 2-3 chapters. Ik that itās a good story and loved by many but I just canāt read it.
You shouldn't really force yourself to read smth if you don't enjoy it imo, cause reading is gor enjoyment. BUT for me personally i couldn't get into "I became the male leads mom" until like, the 5th try.
OMG yay, I've been shipping them since their first interaction and will totally continue reading for just that! Also I think you need to put it in spoiler quotes?
They're such a pretty couple- I feel like crying š. Anytime I see Shuri and Norra art, it always makes me feel giddy and at peace. I guess part of it is also I usually hate stories with love triangles, but I was rooting hard for Norra so I guess that adds to that feeling of peace since their ship sailed
I notice this sub doesnāt ever have new chapter release links, is there a different sub I can go to that would have that for series like this one and VaDtD?
Orka is the only 2 Manhwa Authorās I actually follow on Instagram & when I saw this photo & saw S.3 returned I was like, āBro I picked up this series at the most moments. & I havenāt even caught up yet!ā
The FL was sold into marriage at 14 years old, at 16 she became a widow and now has to care for her 4 stepchildren, the oldest of which is only 2 years younger. Complex family dynamics, Politics, A shitton of angst (broken ring does not even begin to compare). Trauma. Lots of it. Beautiful art and story and characters, 10/10 manhwa.
When is the manhwa continuing? Because on weebcentral, the latest is still chapter 136 (which is the end of johannes' flashback of when he bought shuri)
If you're looking for official translations, then you'll probably have to wait 4 to 6 months if I have to guess, because Tapas is slow af with its releases.
But if you can't wait that long, some fan TL groups have started releasing the new season. Just keep in mind the quality won't be the same.

I don't mind the angst but please tell me there isn't
incest miscarriages and rape
Broken Ring problem I had was I couldn't fucking stand how that sack of shit slept around with other women and gave the FL an STD to have miscarriages and she developed ED problems and anxiety. And he kept fucking with her life in other timelines over and over again because he was a possessive sack of shit
Ok Buckle up: Incest - comlicated, I'll explain at the end.
The saving grace for the children's father is that he never consummated the marriage, meaning he never even slept in the same room as Shuri. No rape or misscarriage.
Open these spoilers for an answer to your questions, I just marked them for others: Jeremy, her oldest stepson, does have feelings for her, and it is entirely understanable. She was groomed by his father to be a political shield and house figurehead for the children until Jeremy is old enough to take over. He never slept with her. But Jeremy falls in love with her, because how could he not? He can't see a girl his age as his mother. That he falls in love is very important, because that way the story shows that he recognizes how fucked up her situation with their father was. However knowing how she only has familial love for him and how such a relationship and/or confession would ruin her, he never acts on those feelings, clearing the field to his best friend, the ML and the man on the cover. The antagonist (a cardinal) is a Frollo type, but never comes close to even touching her, rather preferring to whip himself because he feels lust for her. No rape or miscarriages, but Shuri is an increadibly unreliable narrator. Johannes, her late husband, is not the angel the flashbacks of the earlier chapters make him out to be. During those two years where she was his wife, he educated her in everything she has to know to lead the richest family in the empire until Jeremy comes of age, and when she made mistakes he had her whipped. He also beat her whenever he had one of his psychotic episodes, and locked her in closets and dark rooms, two things which she is increadibly scared of. Real fucking POS. Shuri couldn't cope with the trauma, so her subcounciosness locked away selective memories (selective amnesia), meaning in her mind Johannes was a benevolent teacher, who simply was her husband so she'd have legitimacy
Oh absolutely not. Fortunately or unfortunately the grooming Shuri underwent stuck, and while she loves Jeremy dearly, it is only as something in between a son and brother. Never Romantical
Omg is that really true?? But in the manhwa there was never any indication of Shuli's abuse with Johannes'. I genuinely thought that Johannes could be at least a decent guy.
Further in the novel, we find out shortly after marriage Shuri ran away from the Neuschwanstein estate back to her childhood home (the entire episode was purged from her mind by her subconciousness), where a maid bathed her and found lash markings on her calves. Perhaps I used the wrong word, maybe she wasn't whipped, but she was at the very least birched.
Iāve tried so many times to pick this story up but I just canāt stand how bad the art is in the beginning. Like chibi and balled fists and non-stop shouting. But then I see images like this and it makes me reconsiderā¦
The same happen to me with "I married the hero's dad"
like, I really love that story so much but the first 30 chapters are a bit of a drag when you already know what it's going to happen, still, it was amazing how much they set up stuff to be paid off later.
Remeber that he quite literally only a year younger than her. Also she was only really a mother to the two youngest, the older ones saw her more as a sister. It does not in any way romantize guardian-child relationships, rather the entire message of teh story is how fucked up her situation is.
Oh, the pseudo incest part isn't my issue. Just going off the other spoilers... I think I'd have wanted Jeremy to be with Shuri and I actually feel a little bad about that.
No, for me, I feel like it's disrespectful to the step-child. Especially from the ML. It's a similar reason I'm not the biggest fan of Brother's or Sister's best friend trope when the sibling has established they don't want anything happening between them.
Like, so fuck the friendship, huh? And all other feelings... nah, they don't matter. He don't matter, either. Especially when you consider that ML apparently knows that Jeremy had unrequited feelings for Shuri? Just... not a fan.
In a less HEA story, I don't think the friendship would survive. 50/50 shot the familial dynamic is undamaged.
What sets this story apart is that Norra values Jeremy just as much as he does Shuri. In chapter 114, During a swordduel for title of the empireās finest knight, Norra confronts Jeremy about his feelings for Shuri, finally stating what they both already knew. He then asks what Jeremyās intentions are, and two things happen. When Jeremy asks what Norra would do if Jeremy pursued Shuri, Norra said heād back off. And only then did Jeremy give his friend the approval of showing his love to Shuri more openly. Norra wouldāve never done that without Jeremy in the picture, he values his ābrotherā just too much.
Also Shuri felt really guilty when she and Norra got together, but Jeremy talked to her and (without revealing he ever had feelings), tells her that for once in her life she should do what she wants out of her own conviction, without the church, her late husband or high society influencing every step she takes.
Her relationship with Norra is the first true free act she does in her life.
Oooh true, I keep forgetting in the first TL they werenāt really friends. Iirc didnāt Nora of that TL think that Jeremy kinda had a hand in her death (which was incorrect)
Itās always sad reading the first TL again and seeing how Shuri thought of herself as this decrepit old woman who no one noticed because she had to put the kids first, but then we see how Nora fell in love with her at first sight and fought to find her murderer
Yup iirc he said a lot of stuff to Jeremy bc he blamed him so ig that means Jeremycouldn'tgroeve Shuri in his eyes or sth š. Honestly, my heart ached for both of them
Actually eth in the first TL just rips my heart out

CRAZY HOW NORRA KEEPS GETTING HOTTER EVERYTIME I SEE HIM like dear god, every pic of norra and shuri is like a renaissance painting
