How does murdering the mother help keep the baby alive?
48
u/18002221222 4h ago
The language in the bill legalizes killing anyone trying to commit murder (defining murder as ending any life beginning at fertilization). So as written, it's totally legal for the mother to shoot back, or for anyone else to shoot the shooter. Is someone trying to shoot a shooter who's shooting a shooter? Just get another shooter. It's just an unending line of people shooting at each other. You know. A pro life bill.

At the same time, at least here in Asheville, if you're a reckless driver (male) and swerve into the opposite lane and kill two cyclists, or you're a male passenger in a car who gets out of a vehicle and shoves an elderly person to the ground leading to their death you get no serious consequences or jail time.

u/qaf0v4vc0lj6 2h ago
That’s what happens when you vote Democrat for District Attorney.
12
u/gitpushfuck 2h ago
Are you saying not one similar thing happened during the term of Ron Moore, last republican DA for Asheville?

u/HardwareHankAaronn 1h ago
When you vote for Republicans, you get a convicted felon as president.

What I learned about this idiocy is that it's ok for a fetus to threaten the life of its mother or kill her, it's ok for a man to threaten the life of a woman or kill her, but it's not ok for a woman to protect her own life.

They have time to introduce and make these bills but they don’t have time to give teachers raises.

u/stalelunchbox 3h ago edited 59m ago
From my understanding, the bill legalizes the use of deadly force if it’s to defend someone else’s life. Seems like a good way to set off a chain reaction.

This bill is not moving forward.
76
u/Feisty_Crops 4h ago
That’s really not the point. The cruelty to women is the point. And just because there are people who are still decent doesn’t negate that it was written in the first place setting a precedent.
3

u/deadwatered 1h ago
Of course it is cruel and disturbing to see legislation like this written at all. But I do think it is still really important to note that the bill currently only has ONE sponsor and isn’t going to move forward. The bill itself is scary enough, no need to scare people more by making it sound like something that is actually going to happen

No, the decent people are the ones killing the bill, the shitty ones are the ones against women

So you are agreeing that Republicans are decent people as well right? Because they killed this bill as well

Idk why you're getting downvoted, it's good to know that this isnt moving forward. I agree with others that it shouldn't be forgotten but people should be put at ease that it didn't pass

Visibility is good it's just that people get tired of seeing someone post this every single day like it's a new post

North Carolina allows the use of deadly force to defend yourself or another from an immediate threat of death if you have a reasonable belief the use of deadly force is necessary.
This is restated in the text of HB1232 "Any person has the right to defend his or her own life or the life of another person, even by the use of deadly force if necessary, from willful destruction by another person."
It would be fully justified to kill a person attempting to murder a woman attempting to get an abortion or to protect any person attempting to perform an abortion under current NC law and the proposed legislation which is how you know this is just bullshit pandering to low IQ constituents.

The way Democrats take 1+1 and get 50 is just insane. Logic isn't their strong points, I get it but how about some common sense?
-3
u/Agitated-Donut-9835 4h ago
Sounds pretty crazy to me extremism on either the left or right is bad. I am for birth control and using your head to prevent unwanted pregnancy but each case is different and the circumstances must be considered. Incest and rape should be exceptions and abortion should be allowed. Anyway that is my opinion!
8
u/Silent-Literature-64 3h ago
Extremism on the left: “maybe people should get to define their own gender however they want!” Extremism on the right: “maybe no one but cishetero white Christian men should have the right to vote!”

This “bill” is giving the authors everything they wanted:: Attention & outrage.
Unknown tiktokers are gaining lots of followers by discussing this lol.

u/PdPopOff 3h ago
What a dumb title. It’s like saying “remember democrats are intolerant and hate everything they don’t agree with”
Such a grossly misleading over generalization and one of the biggest problems with politics in general.
-24
u/JonnyDrops 4h ago
The bill is dead. You can stop posting this for the millionth time now. Was never going to pass anyways as even most republicans do not support it.
21
u/Ardielley 4h ago
The issue is that our culture has shifted to the point where Republicans feel emboldened and comfortable enough to put forward these sorts of horrifying bills. Electing Republicans at this point in time when they’ve gone mask-off normalizes their behavior. Which is why it’s imperative to vote as many of them out as possible.

u/cyberfx1024 4h ago
He has been doing shit like this for years. It used to be him and someone else but that guy got primaried in 2024, so now it's him.
The people in his district got tired of him and primaried him in March.

Less worried about bots than whatever insane ish the NC GOP is up to. This bill reveals some kind of sick fantasy, and the guy who wrote it deserves to be on blast.
2
u/Kradget 4h ago
What a wild thing to make up to argue against.
I didn't say that. I said the thing about the bill being 100% real and filed. I can't help that it's an extraordinarily unpopular and insane statement of policy goals by a member of the party that dominates our legislature without the need to win the popular vote. However much they're embarrassed about it at this point.
Same as I can't help people are posting it, or that you don't like it. Lots of unrelated things are true at once.

A woman should have the right to end a pregnancy for any reason at all, she doesn't owe you an explanation.
1
u/OrganicNirnroot 1h ago
Im not going to stop anyone from getting an abortion. This post seems to mostly address the concern of abortion regarding rape. I just posted statistics. I think if we truly want a better country/state we need constructive debates intead of the 2 sided echo chamber.

Ok calm down. Also, I forgot to mention the other reason-I do not give a shit. If someone out there wants an abortion bc they don’t want to have to buy new clothes, I’ll fight for their right to that abortion as hard as I can. It is NOT MY OR YOUR BUSINESS.

No, you voted for the only politician to ever call jeffery epstein a terrific guy who liked to party with young girls while partying with jeffery epstein and young girls for decades.
Because only pedophiles share your "values".
Because you are a child molester/supporter.

u/GeminiFade 3h ago
No, we just recognize that unborn children require a mother's body in order to become born children. And women's bodies should not be used without consent to maintain the potential life of an unborn child. And just as nobody can force a person to have an abortion or give up a kidney or be an organ donor, nobody should force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term.
I'm sure it's easier to imagine that we are heartless, evil, baby killers. It's so much more comfortable to assume the worst about the people you like to other.

You're probably one of those people who claim to know Jesus and then are proud of mass deporatations and cutting food stamps.

Yea but the other party doesn’t know what a woman is and that men can have babies. And you have a man in congress pretending to be a woman and he gets praised. I can’t keep up….this bill definitely is atrocious and should have never seen the light of day, but it did get shut down and isn’t moving forward. Like the dude that got downvoted….karma farming at its finest.
5
u/GeminiFade 3h ago
So you agree that the bill is terrible, but you felt compelled to bring up your total lack of understanding about trans people anyway. Why? What makes you so afraid of or hateful toward trans folks?
2
u/Darkkujo 59m ago
Never ceases to be funny how obsessed conservatives are with other people's genitals. How about that MAGA Mark Robinson btw? Loved to condemn transpeople all day long but then loved watching dirty videos of them at night.

u/Diligent_Court8096 45m ago
But men can have babies and do everything a woman can do but better is what I’m hearing.

u/ckilo4TOG 4h ago
These posts have become worse than "Moving to North Carolina" posts.
The bill wouldn't result in what the post claims, and the bill is never going to make it out of the rules committee. It is dead in the water, never to be voted on, and the Representative has been primaried out of the election.
The repeated posting of this is nothing but rage bait.
-12
u/Supremetm 4h ago
Its one single congress person who introduces this bill every year. It will never ever pass. The vast majority of republicans support abortions for specific reasons like rape, incest, or the health of the mother.
7
u/CornWine2 3h ago
The vast majority of republicans voted for jeffery epstein's best friend because they love child molesters.

Democrats are the ones who hate women; that is why, in women's sports, they allow men to snatch away their titles and medals—and in combat sports, they have allowed women to be beaten.

Too many white women are too busy (1) thinking about their white sons and feeling like you’re criticizing their sons when you critique the white male patriarchy and (2) believing they stand to benefit from that patriarchy, to vote against the Republican Party.
Every election liberal Democrats talk about white women voting Democratic because of women’s rights issues and a majority never do for the two reasons I just stated.
If the cost of living remains sky high, maybe they will this year because everyone overall will, but it won’t indicate a change in white women’s voting patterns; it would be a momentary cost of living response.
1
u/Silent-Literature-64 2h ago
And what do you have to say about mens’ voting patterns?
0
u/Appropriate_Value122 1h ago
When the subject of the post is men and how they should vote, then I'll say what I think about men's voting patterns instead of white women's. This post was about women and how they should vote so that's what I addressed -- the fact that A MAJORITY OF WHITE WOMEN VOTES REPUBLICAN -- duh. 🤡
1
u/Silent-Literature-64 1h ago
You are wrong. This post was about how Republicans treat women. Nothing about how women vote.
0
u/Appropriate_Value122 1h ago edited 1h ago
The post title is, "Republicans hate women. Remember at the ballot box in November!!!"
You are wrong, clown. So go ahead now and try to argue that it's not specifically telling one sexy (women) they need to vote against Republicans because Republicans are attacking women, just because it didn't directly say "Women need to remember this at the ballot box in November."
Yeah, I know and agree that everyone, male, female, trans, etc., should vote against Republicans for a ton of reasons, but that line was clearly meant to motivate women to vote against Republicans, which is why I pointed out that a majority of white women never do no matter how many women's rights Republicans try to undo.
1
u/Silent-Literature-64 1h ago
I think the reason so many people are downvoting you is because you sound like you’re saying women deserve this shit for not voting as a perfect voting bloc—otherwise, why bring up how they voted?
