Nioh 3 - Questions Help with human bosses

Hello! i’ve been loving the hell out of nioh 3 and i’ve been using samurai sword, and it’s a blast…against yokai.. but with human bosses, mostly kunimatsu and soji, i just struggle? they don’t stagger when i hit, i can barely get 2 skills off before i get hit, and it’s getting annoying, so! i would like to help from other sword users and anyone else! how do you guys deal with human enemies? thanks!

Kunimatsu and Soji staggered when you hit, but it is on the condition that they are not attacking. You can hit them in a combo of 3 - 4 moves, then they will either dodge back or block your coming attack.

is that just how it is? or is there a way to work around it?

Pretty much that it is. However, their move is usually difficult to predict. Sometimes they will stop in the middle of a combo and sometimes they will continue. Also, they will start another combo if you don't hit them right after they finished the previous one. These leave many uncertainties for the fights.

that kinda sucks, i prefer how nioh 2 did it. but i guess i’ll have to learn, thanks!
