If your cruise is out of the convention Center definitely Pan Pacific or Fairmont Pacific Rim for pre cruise. If it’s not sailing out of the convention Center then Georgia Hotel or Sutton Place if you want to be close to shopping. Want to be near Stanley Park Westin Bayshore or Sylvia Hotel. I would probably lean towards Sylvia (older hotel with lots of charm) over the Bayshore. Lots of neat restaurants and a lot more action and a swimming beach just across the road. These are all pretty $ if you want something cheaper just pick something near these hotels.

Your welcome. If you have time take the Aqua bus to Granville Island and maybe the Seabus to North Vancouver it leaves near the Pan Pacific and Fairmont.

Yes thanks! Yes I was looking at the sea bus to Lonsdale Market I think which looks really nice!

It is, lots of nice restaurants and breweries. You can catch a bus and head to Lynn Canyon and go the free suspension bridge. Or catch a bus to Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain (don’t go on a cloudy day).

I volunteer at Destinations Vancouver. There are a number of us hanging around Canada place (cruise ship terminal) who are more than happy to give suggestions for visits and (travel to and from) depending on your interests and activity levels.

Most locals won't really know how to answer this but I will say that I met two couples on the Sea to Sky Gondola this weekend - both from Australia, both booked on different Alaskan cruises. They decided to stay near the cruise terminal, and booked the day trip by bus to Squamish, they seemed to be having the time of their lives.

However, the skytrain from the airport to downtown means you can fairly easily stay at the airport, and travel downtown for the shuttles.

Only rent a car if something is far enough away from the city and unserviced by tourism transportation.
