Hi this is my first time growing out my hair as an afro. I had it in dreads and or twists for like 6 years and recently chopped it all off. I have no idea how to look after it now and I don’t even really know what to do please help.

so first things first youre going to need 2 shampoos..(one moisturizing and one clarifying), 1 conditioner, 1 leave in/moisturizer and if you WANT a styler.. such as mousse, gel or cream. i really recommend the tangle teezer for fine and fragile hair brush for short afro hair.
once a week this would be your routine:
once every month or every other month, use a gentle clarifying shampoo. (a clarifying shampoo removes build up that your moisturizing shampoo wasnt able to remove overtime. do not use it every week- or too often. only when you have build up that your reg shampoo cannot remove)
the main things to grow out hair is to be GENTLE and manage breakage to a tea and keep it VERY moisturized.
do NOT use things like pics to detangle even a wide tooth comb. a brush has flexible teeth to avoid breakage.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS:
moisturizing shampoo: tgin moisture rich shampoo, keracare moisturizing shampoo is really cheap and gentle.
conditioner: joico treatment balm (you can find this at tjmax or marshells for really cheap. its a bit more expensive in other stores like ulta)
leave in: camielle rose honey hydrate (dont be heavy handed with this one if you consider it), camielle rose moisture milk
stylers: doux crazy sexy curl mousse (definition and hold) miche tropical oasis gel (really good for definition and hold)
EXTRA INFO:
you can tweak this routine based on your goals for styling and products but the main 2 rules is to wash ATLEAST once a week + moisturizing and be gentle.
tip: keeping your hair in styles where the strands are organized until wash day makes breakage lessen and detangling faster..example: defining curls, twistouts, braidouts.
avoid high tension styles and do NOT let stylists detangle your hair dry, or with a small tooth comb.
