Writing Help Rinnegan-based power help
Hello everyone. Fare warning, my English is not that good. As you have seen in the title, I am asking for advice and help for creating a fanfiction story I am making. It's a Rinnegan-based power (Inspired mostly by Pain) and I currently stuck on how I can show or how I can explain how it could be passed down (eye/Rinnegan) from generation. I thought of maybe by genetics or DNA? I had an idea that if an Asura reincarnate and Indra reincarnate (male and female, of course) would have had a child, would that child acquire the Rinnegan later in its life? Since their DNA and chakra would be combined into one and passed down and inherited by their child. That's my initial idea on explaining it first. I don't know if that would work, but where else do I ask if not Naruto enthusiast. Thank you to whoever answers.

i mean... genetics are fucking weird and both kaguya and hagaromo lived like two thousand years before canon, so i would imagine some of those genes got spread around more than you think in such a timeframe
so it could just be pure luck that the reccesive genes mixed perfectly to awaken specifically the rinnegan, maybe they encountered pain/nagato at some point and the ambient chakra from him was the cause for the genes to activate
just spitballing a wild idea here

Does more than 1 character have it? if not you dont have to explain it being passed down at all....
literally only 1 character alive even has decent theories on how to recreate it (zetsu)
so anyone else would probably just go along with the same mythology that Jiraiya thought had occured when it came to nagato.
a child broken by war awoke terrifying power or whatever it was.
Lore doesnt have to matter at all from the POV of your character...
Hell, you can bend the lore to the original thought & mythos jiraiya believed in the first place.

if youre deadset on lore mattering, just have them be the result of a secondary experimet to recreate the eyes that zetsu was working on a few generations ago.
like maybe zetsu used their own genetic material, as the closest living being to kaguya, in order to try and get a lucky rinnengan... but after so many failures they stopped caring or paying attention to said results, only for one of their subjects grandchildren awakening the eyes in a sharingan awakening esc scenerio

** forgot to mention but the main character (the one with the Rinnegan now) are having dream sequences of Pain from when he was still alive. It's to show them where they got their powers/Rinnegan from and adds up to lore.
