Am I verging too close to conspiracy theory territory here or am I right in saying Piardi ref’s a disproportionately large amount of Munster games? Particularly for a ref who’s had some madly controversial decisions against us..

I’m not a ref basher I swear but ā€œthis game has too many rulesā€ just never sat right with me.

I don’t think he gets more Munster games but I do always dread him reffing us since that incident. Making that mistake twice in one season is too much

We just remember every time we have a Piardi game. Especially, since the ā€˜too many rules’ incident. He just sticks out far more than all the average refs we get. It’s a recognized psychological phenomenon.Ā

Every time we get Piardi now, I just try to be thankful that it’s not Peter Martin.

I was at that game in question was actually the first ever game i saw live, only took 19 years for my rugby mad fam to get me there lol, and ever since I bloody dread seeing him as our ref, he jsut always seems to do something to fuck munster over,,,, (yes ok sometimes we deserved it but still jsut seems to be too many are you for real bro moments)

There’s a great compilation I saw before the last game of our players quizzical looks at his decisions. They seem just as confused with him as we are

He gave them a big one against La Rochelle.

I don’t think he is anti Munster - he is just a poor ref and we seem to get way too often.

I don’t have an issue with him to be honest. He can be excellent. Just prone is making a big decision that no one else sees at times.

I don’t think we have a shot regardless. Jack is a huge loss too.

Poor referee with sometimes baffling interpretation of the rules. Having said that, the current crop of international refs seem quite poor

Id love to know what other teams think about him

Ulster fan, he's shit. In our game vs the stormers, he randomly chose 1 scrum to penalise for no hooking, despite the fact no team ever does and neither team had been doing it properly in that match.

The specific scrum he chose though was in our own 22, which gifted Stormers massive territory and we ended up conceding a try from the following play. Shite like that rubs you up the wrong way.

I will never forget watching that Munster vs Bulls game where he stuck you down to 13 incorrectly for 10 minutes, which basically cost you the game. They say refs have reviews and repercussions for bad performances, but I sure as shit didn't see him get any for that cock up.

I think he did the final that year in the end

And a Lions test.Ā

There was a clear strike on the ball actually. Had a good look at it after that game coz it seemed like such an odd call at the time.

That just makes it even worse, he's calling things that didn't even happen then lol

Important point going into the game that people can grab the necks but no twist.

Twist of faiths off the table

Crooked lineouts. Tap and go penalties.

That's his homeworkĀ

I like Piardi as he doesn't get swayed much by the home fans.

It's pretty irrelevant. Hard to see us getting anything out of this now that Jack isn't travelling.

Well, maybe next year.

Don’t think this warrants a post boss. He does seem to get a lot of Munster games, and I’ve questioned some decisions, but there’s way too much chat about refs in the modern game for me

Am I in the minority in enjoying Piardi.

I think he’s absolutely hilarious at times and to be fair to him, he always engages with the players fairly and listens to their grievances.

It’s not his ability to listen I’ve a problem with, it’s his constantly fucking us over in very clear and obvious ways.
