Every harem anime to ever exist.

Female characters almost never get developed beyond "and this is why she's head over heels in love with the male MC"

It's often the worst part of when they develop light novels to anime. For example, I've listened to most of in another world with my smartphone. The anime basically makes all the girls essentially placeholders, the novels at least tried to make them individuals. Was it deep or that impactful? No, but at least I could tell them apart.
