I find it interesting the number of people saying Hazbin Hotel and TADC. I feel like it's the "If women talk 30% of the time during a meeting people think it's an equal amount and if they talk 50% of the time they are perceived as dominating the conversation" but with casts.

Both TADC and Hazbin are pretty equal with their male/female ratio, but I guess that's enough women for them to be perceived as female dominated.

And most people even say that any fandom given as example is actually right for prioritizing men lmao Like, yeah, I guess male characters are sometimes written better than female characters but everyone here just prove OP's point. I genuinelly can't even remember many really female-led shows. While writing this I came up, like, with seven, three of which are (maho) shojo animes. And it's still more than what I've seen in the replies so far

I mean, the other two major ones I see are the Barbie movie (so valid) and RWBY (I don't know enough about it to comment).

The others - Steven Universe and Konosuba do seem like bad examples because the MCs of those shows are men.

I can definitely see this being an issue with Shojo, Josei, and even female lead Seinen.

I see comments regarding TADC and Hazbin Hotel as more critical of how the male characters are supposed to be roughly 50% of the main casts yet receive much more attention and development compared to the other 50% (female).

With Hazbin specifically I sympathize with fans disappointed with the female main characters not being as popular or focused on; especially since the creator claimed Hazbin would be more female-led, yet appears to be just as male-focused as its sibling series Helluva Boss.

Overall, these comments to me revolve around shows that promote themselves as having 50/50 male/female main character ratios, yet seem to overly prioritize their male main characters and minimize/neglect their female main characters.

It's because they have female main characters but the writers love certain male side characters (Hazbin has all their tumblr sexymen and tadc has male centred lore and they shifted the focus to jax)

Eh, it's different bc the mcs of those specific shows are women. So even with an equal gender split, I say it still slants towards being female-centered if the literal (or perceived) centre is a woman

TADC has 2 main characters though? Jax who's a man and Pomni who's a woman

Oh, I haven't watched all of TADC yet, so I didn't realise Jax was a protagonist

Yeah the first few episodes focus on Pomni but the latter more on jax, you'll see when you watch it
