And? Pomni is one of the main characters too and she has fucking nothing compared to Jax

What do you mean?? We watch the show from her perspective

All of which is almost exclusively dominated by Jax, especially in the the final few eps, and that's not even including the stuff we got outside of her pov, which is also all jax related stuff.

Episode 7 for example starts with a long ass abstraction scene dedicated to just Jax.

Pomni nowhere near has the level of content in the show character wise that Jax does

Main characters gonna main character 🤷🏾

Right but once again, we return to my original point, Pomni is also a main character and it's not an equal split. Despite the fact we spend the show looking through her perspective jax is far more important than she is.

Hell even the other characters have more than her and they're not main characters. We know more about kinger's left ass cheek than we ever do for her

I'm pretty sure /u/Anti_Spedicy is talking about a common thing that happens with main characters: they often are seen as less interesting than side-characters. Another example of this is Black Lagoon, also mentioned in this thread.

This is a common side-effect of presenting a main character as rational and balanced for the audience to be able to insert themselves. They end up less of a character and more of a narrative tool to tell the stories of those around them without being completely detached from the narrative.

Writing a story about the main character where they are truly the center of the story requires significant focus, and making interesting side-characters that have their own stories and not just play a role is a challenge. One way to do this is separation, which TADC doesn't have the luxury of.

I mean they tell jax's story fine enough do they not? They're ok breaking off to put him in the driver's seat. The show could have in my opinion some moments where we get to see her arc from jax's perspective

Oh there's nothing wrong with it, especially if it's intentionally written that way (like Black Lagoon). I haven't watched enough of TADC but that could absolutely be the case.

The best part of writing is how many different ways there are to tell stories.

Well that's all I want, especially because she's my favorite character in the show

I feel like it works because of her selfless nature. We see time and time again how she puts someone else's needs ahead of her own, all in an effort to look for a way out.

I also think that she's partly the self insert for the audience since we experience the Circus thru her. That's just been my take because Goose was quite intentional with the delivery of the story, going as far as to say that there's no more show after this because she said everything she wanted to. Maybe we're really not supposed to care about that aspect because trying to figure out more about her doesn't really add anything in-universe. We know more about Kinger because his former identity was the lynchpin to understanding ANYTHING about the Circus. Pomni is the story device that pushes the plot along because of her tenacity. And Jax is the guy who's supposed to experience growth but we'll have to see if he does turn a new leaf or be consumed by his insecurities

I won't have to see anything about how he was handled because I was spoiled on the ending. So there's nothing I can discuss with you about your reply

That's truly unfortunate, man :(

Yeah. It's really hard not to launch into a discussion about it. But I don't wanna ruin anyone's time with it so I won't even say how it made me feel

Good on you
