Federal Odd political poll question
Received a poll from Forsta research today. One of the questions:
“In picking a candidate in the Democratic Senate primary, would you be more likely to vote for someone who is committed to running an aggressive campaign against the Republican and Seth Bodnar, even if it makes it more likely the Republican will win, or someone who might be willing to suspend her campaign if Bodnar has a much better chance of winning?”
This stuck out to me as a bit of a red flag. Some of the other “questions” were basically information about Alani Bankhead and how you specifically feel about her background. Feels like Dems giving up already. 🫠

I'd prefer a candidate who ran *for the office and Montanans* and not *against random other person*

Exactly. I know Bodnar’s candidacy threw a wrench in things and is looming large over the discussion, but if you already don’t think you can win and aren’t committed to offering voters a clearly defined vision, why are you still running?

So a Republican's chances of winning go up with a Dem and Seth in the race? Well that sounds like the sort of thing the GOP would want and would put a lot of money into.
Totally different note, you hear Seth is raising a lot of money?

I’m super curious how many of the 13,000 signatures Bodnar needs to get on the ballot are gonna be from Republicans lol

There is a large subset of Republicans, like myself, I know that’s not aloud in this sub…that are tired of the extreme right and might actually vote for Bodnar.

Why Bodnar?

Because of the little I have learned I like him. But mostly because if you aren’t aligned with either party maybe you’re more likely wrong do “what’s right” rather than whatever your respective party expects.

Sounds like a loaded-question push poll from the Bodnar people. Expect more insinuation that we common folk just didn’t know what we were doing until the UM Main Hall crowd ventured off campus and commenced spreading wisdom.

The Montana Democratic party and the National Democratic party seem to give up on Montana every election.

Did Bodnar enter as a vote-splitter?

At this point I truly don’t know what the thinking was here except making the Dems look bad (they don’t need any help.)
As for Bodnar himself, I have no clue what he actually believes and I doubt he will tell us, but I sense this is just a cynical neolib vanity project. He has lots of rich corporate friends to shake down for money, endorsements, etc., and if it doesn’t work out he can just dip.

I think they're trying to figure out the way montana has become. Bodnar was encouraged to run as an independent by Jon Tester.

If they were wise they would led Bodnar have it as an independent because he might actually have a chance of winning and might align a little bit more with some of their values than the loss to the Republican that is inevitable if the Democrats stay
