Question about mold

I recently moved into an apartment that has a really old and wet basement. Every time it rains we get a bit of water. Enough to where the concrete is pretty much always wet. There is definitely mold down there on stuff but I’m wondering if it could be harmful to me being right above it? We have super old hardwood floors that don’t really have that much insulation (if any) between us and the basement. As a matter of fact, a few of the boards in my living room have chips and I can see right into the basement. Is mold coming up and slowly harming me? I live in Pennsylvania so it’s pretty humid in the summer. Ty!

Most importantly, remember that providing the following information will greatly increase the quality of responses:

  • Include your geographic location - include a country and state/province location such as: US-PA or UK-EN or Canada-Que
  • A description of the location of any suspected mold growth and affected materials
  • A brief description of your concern

Also remember that we can't identify mold from a photo - only a laboratory can determine the species. Don't ask.
