You're neither a healer nor a dps, just practice multitasking. Also, I see a lot of higher rank moiras flanking and dps a lot of the time so it's always fine to give it a shot, just make sure your other support can hold their own when you detach from your team and don't die.

This. Good communication with the team is essential for high rank moiras as higher rank players punish you far easier when you go in alone. Also multitasking is essential, but so is knowing when to full focus heal or damage. Moira really just takes a lot of situational awareness.

To play the flank DPS style you have to take the attention of 2 or more heroes for it to work consistently.
You dont necessarily need to confirm a kill, just create the space for your team to take the first kill.

Use Coal as soon as you get it as it enforces a snowball.

Admittedly I’m hesitant to do that because I turn into a giant target when I use it, and sometimes my team doesn’t protect me. But I will give it a try!

The range on coal is huge you dont need to stand anywhere dangerous.
Orb before coal to blow up target 1.
Hold fade for gaurenteed survival

Learning orb banks and ideally specific spots for juicy bounces is key. You can inflict the healing debuff on an entire team for quite a while with a good bank, and if you like the reversal perk, you can sustain it even longer while also providing clean up damage.
Fade is an escape tool, not an engagement tool. There are times that you can use it to be aggressive, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that until you are very very comfortable with her and only against unaware supports 1v1.
When 1v1 dueling, use a healing orb on yourself if your enemy is at half or higher health (throw it at the floor at an oblique angle if no walls are available to bounce it off of). Use damage orb if they’re below half health (ideally a third to a quarter). You’ll want the sustain if they have higher health, but the damage orb combined with grasp will melt them if they are lower.
Ban Sombra. You can’t easily spot check for her and even if you don’t die to her (if you have fade, you won’t) she’ll still make your life hell. Fuck her, get her outta there. She’s just gonna make your life harder.
Fade can be used to leave, reposition or juke. Knowing when to use what is heuristic and that takes time. Sometimes fading into a direction and then whipping yourself right back to where you were (juking) disorients your opponent and helps clean them up. Fading to reposition can give you the upper hand, especially if your new position gives you better orb delivery. Leaving is always on the table. People will say Moira doesn’t have utility and that’s sort of true but “not dying” is a pretty good utility that Moira excels at. Just fuckin leave. I’m not kidding. Super strong decision a lot of the time.
Melt the Genji. You are his worst nightmare. Just don’t throw an orb at deflect.
Dva is a problem. I often ban her because defense matrix swallow your orbs. If she’s not banned, learn how to throw or bank orbs over her head/shoulder at just the right distance that she probably won’t notice them, but they will still do their job.

(almost) never use your fade to engage, keep it as an escape
