Just picked this up as part of my Mac station setup.

This is my first low profile keyboard. I’m typically used to my collection of high profile boards and I am typically crazy for Alice style keyboards but I couldn’t resist the aesthetics and design.

Originally started with the space black 68 with tactile switches. They were ok but tactile switches always make my fingers vibrate uncomfortably. The sound was serviceable as well with it.

The keycaps were quickly replaced by sumgsn keycaps which honestly have a better match to the board’s rounded aesthetics and slightly improved the sound. Not to mention the legibility is improved as well compared to the smaller characters on the stock keycaps.

Battery life was fair but you have to manage key brightness down to a level 2 to get the most out of it.

Then I decided to try the silver edition 84 with the surfer switches and the f row included. Apparently the 84 versions have a larger battery as well. 2000mah vs 3000mah

After swapping the sumgsn keycaps over I can say the surfer switches are the real star of the show. They feel and sound great right out of the box and I would even say they optimized this board’s sound for this switch in particular where the tactile felt like a means to and end to have a black on black design and to have a tactile version in the lineup.

The side bar is a nice touch, I found uses for it when I couldn’t hit an F Key.

I thought the silver and white framing would look awkward with the black keycaps but it works. I would even say you have better illumination since there is no black framing like on the space grey.

At under 200$ I believe you get a solid keyboard for the money. I would recommend buying through a trusted retailer in case you obtain one with wacky QC.

What I would like to see on a Future iteration on this board is a 68 variant with the larger battery, surfer switches on the space gray version and better keycaps even if they are not shine through (we’re not getting the full rgb on this model) - with a lower cost.
