Festivals GenX co-worker freaked out about weed at Festival International
On a company-wide meeting with a coworker who lives in Lafayette. Although he has lived in Lafayette for years, this is the first time he and his wife ever went to Festival. His description was “been there done that don’t need to do it again. I haven’t smelled that much weed since a Metallica concert years ago. These things really bring out all the freaks. They weren’t even trying to hide it, smoking right in front of the cops and they didn’t care.”
This man is 52 years old. I get not enjoying things like Festival, but who gives a shit about the legality of weed?
And I also understand that the smell can be a lot, but bruh - you were outside on a beautiful weekend. Let people enjoy it.
(And for clarity, I’m a year and a half older than this guy).

Festivals Two festivals this weekend!
If y’all are looking for something to do this weekend the Jambalaya Festival in Gonzales and the Beauregard Parish Watermelon Festival in DeRidder are both great options!
Both festivals have vendors/live music/etc! Any of y’all been yet??
I started putting together a map of regional food festivals because a lot of these events are surprisingly hard to find unless you already know about them.
If you want to browse others nearby:

Festivals 🍄 Fungus Fest in Arnaudville (March 14) – foraging walks, mushroom cooking demos, and cultivation workshops
If you’re into mushrooms, foraging, or just curious about how fungi work in nature, Fungus Fest is happening March 14 in Arnaudville.
The event includes a full day of mushroom education and hands-on activities like:
• guided mushroom foraging walks
• cooking demos and tastings
• spore printing and propagation workshops
• talks from local naturalists and educators
Acadiana Myco will also have a table set up demonstrating the basics of gourmet mushroom cultivation. We’ll be showing the process people use to grow mushrooms at home — things like inoculating grain bags, transferring grain spawn to substrate, and how the growing cycle works from start to harvest.
If you’ve ever wondered how people grow mushrooms like lion’s mane or oyster mushrooms, you’ll be able to see the process up close.
Families are welcome and it’s a good event whether you’re a total beginner or already interested in fungi.
📍 Location
1050 Andrew Gautreaux Road
Arnaudville, LA 70512
If anyone from Louisiana Reddit plans on going, come say hello. 🍄
