LA - Government Louisiana governor faces recall petition after canceling elections

A statewide recall petition requires the petitioners and their supporters to secure signatures from 20% of active registered voters to trigger a recall election.
That amounts to about 500,000 signatures from Louisiana's 2.5 million active registered voters.
They have a deadline of 180 days to secure the required number of signatures.
If you're looking for a way to get involved in preserving our democracy, this would be an excellent way to have a substantive positive impact.
Volunteer to help collect signatures. Turn your outrage into action. Get some sunshine. Meet cool people. You'll feel better about this mess if you're actually doing something to fix it. And you'll help make the state a better place to live.
There is an enormous need for people to help out with gathering signatures.

Wonderful news and I hope it's a success! For ALL non-Republicans, and I also hope this for Calvin Duncan!! 💙🇺🇲

Duncan’s experiences are precisely why he ran for clerk of criminal court. He consistently struggled to obtain documents from the office that could have proven his innocence while he was in prison. He wanted to make court documents more accessible so that the wrongfully accused had a better chance of proving their innocence.
So it should come as no shock that Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and state Republicans weren’t going to let that happen. Landry was an ardent supporter of the bill and has pledged to sign before Duncan can take office.
More dirty politics by Landry and the Republicans that only continues to cement their track record as anti-democratic, anti-people, anti-justice.
This is only "wonderful news" if you hate democracy and justice and instead advocate for tyranny.

Heh, Ok, you should make that clear in your post by editing in a disparaging comment about that Reddit thread ;)

That was my original comment. I don't know how much clearer I could have gotten:)

Cancelling an election after the voting has already started is like cancelling a Super Bowl because a team’s starting quarterback has gotten hurt in the first series of the game.

That sounds like the old proverb,
Treating illness after it has begun is like forging weapons after battle is engaged.

My problem is I find out about these signing locations literally the day of. And sorry, but with two small kids I can’t just drop what I’m doing, even though I hate fucker Landry.
Is there somewhere these places are announced ahead of time? It all feels disorganized, which makes me worry it won’t succeed.

Thanks.

Here is a doc about how to volunteer to help the recall effort ("Volunteer" and "Get Involved" links). The form itself is for asking general questions about the recall effort:

get in touch with a neighboring parish and see if they have a livingston parish sheet. i’m in vermilion but was able to sign in lafayette.

I though it would need to be signed in the Parish you reside in?

same, but since there isn’t a table in VP, the kind folks in Lafayette made a separate sheet with just VP they’ll turn in to the VP registrar.

Hammond has one every Wednesday downtown. Not sure how deep in Livingston you are if denham or somewhere would be closer.

im 100% with you guys in this, but genuine question, will this have any meaningful consequence? it seems these days those in power can just choose to ignore what they’d like and get off scott free. i trust this, but im unsure of the outcome.

Why would he comply with the outcome of the recall if it went against him?

I mean, if he wanted to go down the Trumpian lawbreaker path, he could just be arrested for trespassing... dragged out of the executive mansion clutching a set of drapes or something.
