Chromatica Chromatica is her best visual era
Now I know she has the best visuals in the game. If you put born this way and the fame monster visuals against chromatica not sure who you could say is the best. They’re all standouts.
But the otherworldly, equipment as fashion in a sci-fi world where our current world is apocalyptic and now we have suits to help us breathe in space. its breathtaking.
her era with the most vibrant colors that reflect a changing sky in a new world.
She’s referencing the early 90s rave and club kid culture and how raving in the desert makes them feel like they’re on another planet, combined with drugs becomes a spitrual "plane" but that connection "to another world" from dancing and taking drugs is dangerous place breeding mental illness if you're not careful and wise. Its a world where finding a stable place in the mind to create sanity is really originating from insanity of partying. We have to take care of each other in that state. Every group needs its mother.
Besides born this way it’s her most “mother” record. She only fights for the dance floor. And only because people fight for a free space where you can have fun and dream and escape reality on the dance floor. A spiritual realm that looks like another world that cures yourself within. She sounds technically perfect, she has a deep voice echoing from beyond in Alice, free woman, rain on me instructing you to be free, telling the rain to let it fall. It’ll be ok.
It’s her punchiest pop record. Full of euphoric pop beats. It’s very early mid 90s European house. Europop. So it’s her lightest in terms of sound. Some heavy concepts but a lot of light. Free woman, stupid love, plastic doll, even rain on me are extremely positive. It’s her record with the moste love bomb theme. It’s like she’s trying to be ally who creates dance pop thats so euphoric it heals depression in an instant.
Feels like the concept that perfectly encapsulates what she wants to do with music. I’m going to say it’s her most meta record, on point concept, and her most underrated. Used to be artpop now is chromatica. I would change stupid love to a more 2010s EDM trop house track even if chainsmokers ruined that sound for some people. over the 80s synth beat. Unpopular maybe but stupid love us my least favorite song of hers despite it having so much good and being almost new territory for her. I didn’t love or understand chromatica when it was released, I think it’s produced and track listed incorrectly but otherwise her most slept on record becuase it’s going for that europop, Katy Perry “firework” flavor in production that everyone loves. with a concept she had to be sitting on

Chromatica The Chromatica era had some of the best WeirdGa/DarkGa visuals
I know we love talking about how Mayhem is the "return" to Dark Gaga visuals but we really never lost it, looking back. The Chromatica era had some of her best and freakiest visuals but weren't fully utilized beyond the Chromatica Ball. Wish we had more music videos, press tours, publicity etc. that were more in line with this vision because I feel like the public really missed out on this!!! (thanks COVID)
(Ofc the Dark Gaga sound is a different discussion)

Chromatica Uh… why do fans not like Chromatica that much?
God, Chromatica is full of fucking BANGERS!!! 💗🪐
I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a Little Monster in the way that some of y’all are, but I’ve seen so many fans say they don’t like Chromatica, compare Mayhem to Chromatica negatively, or say that Chromatica doesn’t feel like a sincere body of work from Gaga. What are you guys talking about? I simply do not get it.
The production is so layered and transcendent, the melodies are rich and flawlessly catchy, and the crisp lyrics create a striking juxtaposition between pain and dancing - it sounds so bloody good and the worldbuilding is top-notch
Alice, Replay, Sour Candy, Sine From Above, 1000 Doves, and Enigma are some of the best songs of her career! Even the instrumental orchestral interludes slap! the only song I’m meh on is Babylon, but that’s just my style rather than a criticism of the song itself
If I had any criticism of the album, it would be that Fun Tonight and Free Woman sound way too similar, and that it was an even dumber decision to put them back-to-back on the track list, but both the songs are total bangers so they get away with it
Personally, I love both Mayhem and Chromatica a lot and think they are standout jewels in Gaga’s crown and bring a lot of value to her legacy - can any fans please elucidate me on why they don’t like this banger album? ⚔️💓
