Please be careful using dating apps like Grindr NSFW
Hi,
I think it is important to share that a man who recently died in Blanchardstown was killed in a homophobic attack after being lured through a fake Grindr profile
It is upsetting to talk about, but I think people should be aware that gay men are still being specifically targeted in this way. Please be careful when meeting people through apps
Thinking of his family and everyone affected by this. I hope there will be some advocacy on his behalf in this context soon

I’d like to know what your source is for this , as this is the first I’ve heard about this and there’s so much miss information being spread and rumors, I like to deal in the facts .
Rip to him.

As the old saying goes, when people meet women on dating apps they’re worried they could be embarrassed, but when people meet men on dating apps they’re worried they could be murdered. Be careful, ask for ID before meeting, tell your friends where you’re going and meet only in public places at first. It’s shit that this is the way it is but this is the way it is.

Do people actually ask for id though? I’m in a relationship many years now, but were I single, I’d feel like I was being phished / scammed if someone asked for id on grindr

I was asked for ID once in my 20s as I looked young, but it’s a weird experience, just meet publicly and get a feel for people, dont take unnecessary risks. The majority of people are ok (I like to believe). Saying that ive only met a handful of guys from apps in my life, and I am generally terrified of stuff like this.

Not common practice here I know and it’s a weird one, but my friend that lives in Toronto does it and it doesn’t seem strange over there. It’s awkward but it’s worth it

This is happening all over the world and started bc of the manosphere influencers. Have a look at Australia’s response to it so far. There’s been tonnes of arrests.

If this is true it absolutely should be on the news to warn others - it makes it even more serious than A random attack

Please provide a source for this information. If you can't or don't have one then you're free mongering.

If it was indeed a hate crime we need to know, but without sources it feels like gossip

Hate speech is not acceptable here. No homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, ableism, racism, sexism or other bigoted posts.

Have you ever considered LGBT people exist in places like Continental Africa and the Middle East

Im reading up a bit on him, just curious, where does it say it was Grindr/lgbt oriented? None of the news stories mention he was gay or it was a hate crime (the ones im seeing anyway), but maybe it’s a bit early for that. I know theres a video going around apparently but I definitely don’t want to see that. It’s fucked up
