Bus from Bishkek to Almaty with bike box?

Has anyone got much experience with the bus from Bishkek to Almaty, and how much luggage space is there? I keep reading differing accounts.

I need to travel from Bishkek to Almaty by bus to catch a flight in Almaty. I'll be travelling with a bike in a box, ready for my flight from Almaty. Does anyone know if the buses have room for large luggage?

luggage section in the bus is big, sometimes I've seen people to carry a whole car door

but bus is kinda bad, it's slow and often smells bad, and it goes only till the Sayran bus station

uf yiu have money order an inter-city yandex taxi, if not then bus is okay and bearable
