Any mackerel about ?

Was thinking about heading down to doolin Pier this evening for the high tide. Anyone lucky with a catch yet ?

Kind of a side-question but is Doolin Pier any good in general? I've fished it a few times and blanked every time. Tried lures, bait, both sides of the pier, at various water stages. I've never even seen any small fish there.

I fished for about 3 hour a while ago up the coast and caught nothing. Then went out to some edgy rocks and caught 4 pollock but tbh it was very much pollock territory, rocky shelf.

I don’t fish at the pier, I go right past the seaweed baths and track up the coast. Mind you it’s very rocky terrain with plenty rogue waves on a bad day ( from experience) and you can lose a shite ton of gear if you’re not aware of the ground.

Ah great thanks for the clarification. I've fished there too and the only thing I caught was a nice green ballan, coincidentally whilst herself was having a seaweed bath 😃 That part beyond the baths feels like it should be packed with fish. Maybe I was only there on their days off! Specifically that last shelf before it gets too cliffy to fish feels like it should be prime pollack territory. Mind me asking what you use?

Yah so once you walk past the seaweed baths you need to walk directly left towards the edges of the rocks. I fished it like 2 hours after low tide. I used like 2 cheap 30 g lures and that was it. They seem to lie directly off the shelf just let it drip a good bit
