Basically. Velvet worms shoot out a very sticky and fast drying liquid to capture prey. He waddled away due to not liking the lights on and came back to eat it when all the lights were off

He was like “Ooh free lunch” Spit. “Too bright. Will come back for lunch later.” Later, “Lunch is ready”

It's probably even better if you let it rest before you slice it. Like a London broil.

Velvet worms really show that predators don't need to be good at killing, merely restraining prey. The actually eating (for that is how they kill you) is incredibly slow.

That’s super cool, so does it just dry and trap the prey there? or does it have some sort of venom that causes paralysis, or something like that in it?? I’ve heard of, and seen yours and other videos of them, but other than that, know basically nothing about them.

Detailed shot of how they shoot for anyone curious. Had to move mine to a new enclosure, felt bad that I stressed her into shooting at me but it was so fucking cool to finally see it happen in person. Thankfully she missed too, the droplets are a super strong adhesive. Was cool to see how it was almost like a lasso but with several strings attached.

I wish I could reply with a video and not only images. I got a vid of when one of em shot at me and you could see how adhesive to goo is🔥😭
