Discussion Recommendations

Hello, i just bought a brand new intel arc b580 and it's gonna arive in a week. What's your recommendations for this gpu? Like any bad drivers? Good driver versions? Any settings that i should use or not use?

My old card was amd and choosing drivers was basically like a russian roulettes so i wanna know what's it like in intel.

B580 is already a well balanced card, there's no need to try to UV/OC it like crazy. You can get like 4% more performance if you do, but power consumption goes up disproportionately.

Nevertheless, the driver offers everything to tinker around, no extra tools needed, so it's very tempting. And you'll sure do, so trust someone that already did it to an insane extend - at least until leadership in my class

Leave VL as is. Raise frequency (100-150MHz) and raise PL to make it stable. Any change in VRAM-Tuning is the best and fastest way to make the card crash. The interface doesn't allow to lower the voltage, so it's the way to go to make it a technical undervolt. Advanced tuning offers to directly tamper around with the V/Hz curve, but it's a pain to use and the results are disappointing.

The driver interface is very clean and user-friendly. The driver behaves exemplary if anything goes wrong. Which makes it even harder not to play around.

Although some ppl might get a rash - Multi-FG works great and makes the card a silent, reliable, cool and power draw friendly 1440p companion.

A rather strange thing is the idle power draw, which can be unexpectly high. To get the lowest idle power consumption you need to set Link Power State Management in energy savings to max. savings, like described here

Thank you for these infos.
