Scared to file claim

I am looking at potentially having to file my third claim within 5 years. Actually within 3 years.

The first was a major power outage and I stupidly followed the advice of others and they sent me a check to replace spoiled food. I didn't really realize this was a claim or I never would have done this. (2024)

Second, my husband had someone convince him to come make a claim for new siding after hail damage. (2025)

Now, my mom flooded my bathroom and there's water coming through the first floor. I am praying this is just a few thousand and we will pay it. But if its major damage we won't have a choice but to make a claim. I am sick and just so bummed for making the other two claims.

Will we be dropped if we make another claim?

Update, it looks like the damage isn't so bad and we will pay out of pocket. So many reddit trolls here just to insult me on a seriously bad day. You don't know what you don't know.. and now I know.

I'll never be as lame as people who spend their time on reddit trying to make people feel bad.

Because I was a first time home owner and didnt know. I didnt have to pay a deductible. What do you want me to say?

Also wasnt quite aware of the issue with too many claims until I was shopping for insurance on a new house. Just ignorance/ being a first time home owner.

i get that but haven’t u had other forms of insurance before? they don’t just write u a check. sometimes certain losses have no deductible. but ya if insurance pays u it’s in a claims scenario. didn’t a claims adjuster talk to u once it was filed?

In what way do you think this is helpful now? And no, they didnt. They send you a check.

Being a reddit known it all must be exhausting and fulfilling but maybe touch some grass today. Or go to work so you don't have to steal from the grocery store.

u think im being a smart ass but i was genuinely asking if you have had other insurance before and if you ever talked to an adjuster..unfortunately as a homeowner these are things u need to know

right now, you should find your full policy jacket (the 30/40 pages including declarations and forms) and read it.

And how would that help in today's situation? You're being unhelpful and trying to make me feel dumb for what I didnt know.

Luckily I have a good job and money in the bank for these situations. My brain was spiraling when it first happened at worse case scenario thinking what if its tens of thousands of dollars, but its not and we can and will pay for the repair out of pocket.

I acknowledged in my first post that making the old claims was an error and a mistake but there is nothing I can do about it now. My policy will say nothing about how many claims it'll take them to drop me so not at all helpful. You ARE being a smart ass lol because why would I read my 30-40 page policy.

yes, it would say how many claims it would take to non renew the policy, or you could call your agent. either way knowing the details of the policy covering your home is important, you are being arrogant

Its important but not at all related to what I am asking. Knowing what it covers isnt what I asked I am asking about. A limit on claims is absolutely not in my policy. And you started with arrogance 😂 i was very humble coming on here but dont talk to me like I am stupid. I came here for help and you're here for what? To be a dick on reddit? I cant imagine having that kind of time on my hands.
