Discussion Mellophone help
I have a school mellophone and it has all these little scratches all over it. Can I fix this with Yamaha silver or lacquer polish? Is there a better way, Or should I just leave it?

Leave it. Silver plate on brass instruments is rarely lacquered.
Polishing = removing enough of the surrounding material for the scratch to be level with the surface.
Silver plate is fairly thin. All you would be doing is further damaging the silver plate so it looks a little better. You would also wear through the silver to the brass faster which will look worse.
