Anyone been through Laminoplasty? My son is scheduled, curious to hear about your experience.

Update: We’ve decided to hold off on surgery for now, as my son’s mobility and grip strength have been improving. He has been wearing a cervical collar since January. We plan to repeat the EMG, continue monitoring his progression, and revisit the surgery decision next month.

My son(16) is scheduled for surgery and I would like to connect with anyone that has been through the procedure. I’ll keep this thread updated with his experience and aftermath. Many thanks

No surgery for now. UCSF strongly recommended holding off, so we’ve decided to wait another month. The cervical collar seems to be helping—his hand strength has improved somewhat and the tremors have subsided. He has another EMG next week, and based on those results, along with his mobility and strength, we’ll reassess whether surgery is necessary.
