My housemate built some cool greenhouses out of old windows
The ones in the first two pics are several years old now and honestly starting to fall apart. But I’ll get use of of them until I can’t anymore.
The last two pics are a new one he whipped up a few weeks ago. The rack on the back holding the macrame cactus/stapeliads was a new touch last weekend.

Don't leave the wood naked on the next ones and they'll last so much longer! Pressure treated doesn't mean it's weatherproof. You may be able to extend the lives of these frames with a stain or sealant that will soak into the wood, but the rot is already settling in on the first ones, so it's more of a band aid than anything.
And no, thanks to multiple mass spectrometer studies, nothing has shown that paint or wood stain will have any effect on the plants you grow in there🙂
These are great, thank you for sharing!

Untreated the first ones have lasted about 6 years. Which it’s way longer than we intended to get out of them anyways.
Thanks for the tips though! Maybe I can convince him to seal the next ones so we can get another decade out of them.

These are great! I’m planning a diy greenhouse myself and this gives me some great ideas.

My wife thinks I'm crazy as I've started collecting random curbside windows for this reason

Tell him to hoard shower doors. And that he should come to my place when he has a bunch

So inspiring. I always wished I would have had the carpentry ability. It's not an easy skill to master. To combine carpentry skill with creativity is indeed an awesome gift. Beautiful!
