Rc8+ would have been also good right? After rook takes and the second rook takes there's the same checkmate pattern

If there was a knight on that square then Rc8+ doesn't work, and I'd assume that the game would give Rxa7 a miss if it was just a pawn there.

They don’t have to take, Rd8 is available. That position is arguably less clear-cut than starting with Ra7, since you can’t easily double on the 7th rank and be more active on top of having the extra pawn.
(Though it is probably still winning if you trade off one pair of rooks and simplify to a two-pawn majority on the queenside.)

What if Rd5 to d8

He should have played that. White is till better. My rooks would arrive on the 7th + I’m up a pawn.

He captured the rook. I played Rc8, he blocked with his bishop, then he resigned after Bh6.
Playing Rc8 straight away doesn’t work bc he could play rd8 and the rooks are protecting each other.

This is not M1 if he takes, this move definitely is very smart if he saw Bf8 and still done it

There is no back-rank mate, what's the continuation?

…Rxa7 2. Rc8 Bf8 (only move) 3. Bh6 and black has no way to defend mate.

But black isn't forced to take

its a continuation for if black takes, which explains why white can take w the rook here while black cant take back, and white is also better in this position even if black doesnt take back with the rook

That’s a cool mate if they take
