Questions Size compatibility

I had two 10+ year old goldfish in an outside tank but sadly one of them passed away recently. The one left is probably around 20cm long. I recently got two new ones with the idea of adding them to that same tank so that i don't leave one of them alone. However, the new ones are only about 5-7 cm and I'm afraid the other might hurt them so they are in another tank for now. Any idea of what is an okay size to introduce them? Or how long they might take to grow? Thank you!

So i should introduce them right after quarantine and just observe their behaviour?

Yep. It’s a pretty big size difference so I’d also make sure the small one has places to hide and get away if need be. Do you have a backup plan if the size difference causes issues?

The tank they're quarantining in is big enough for them to grow for a while. The only problem is the other one would stay alone for longer

They seem to grow pretty fast at least. I think with enough hiding spots it’s definitely doable, it just needs to be a bigger fish that doesn’t only see the small one as a possible meal due to size difference
