Discussion (includes analysis) Would this work—

Imagine so, a low level angel removes their soul and consciousness from their body and keeps it in the body of say someone else and then they pay the price by giving their physical form and power to celestia and in doing so they basically become a mortal would that work? Is this possible by genshin lore standards or is this impossible?

It's like a loophole of sorts if you think about it like that because they will exist as a mortal with their knowledge because they gave only their physical form and powers while still keeping their mind, soul and consciousness

I'm curious about this, would it work, why do I need to know it? Ehhhh research purposes

yeah this is pretty much possible but with some limitations

first it wouldnt be a loophole if we are talking about a low level angel, as only the best of them would be capable of one, mainly the 4 who heard koitars prophecy. As nicole says on a teapot voiceline only the "top students" had the insight to plan ahead

But what you described doesnt need to be one, what she would be doing is choosing wisdom over power, becoming a seelie

And we know the seelie are totally capable of possesing humans, as mr nine does it all the time to write her stories

They would probably not be able to fully take over though, beacause they are programmed not to hurt humans, meaning she would have to keep their autonomy intact

What they could do is coexist with a human to experience a mortal life, kind of what happends to layla, a spirit sharing a body with a human

But basicly yes, a low level angel could very much possess a human to experience a mortal life

Can I ask you an unrelated question since it looks like you know a lot about lore/theories?

How come we come across some of the most ancient and knowledgeable entities in the world (Alice, Nicolle, Nahida, Ronova, Zhongli, Barbeloth, etc) and none of them react to whatever Paimon is? Not even a clue, nothing. I'm so so so lost.

Because of that non-reaction to Paimon, we know little about her. What we know about how people see her:

Paimon says she is Paimon.

Most people say Paimon is a fairy.

Canotila says Paimon is a rainbow balloon whose string is attached to the sky.

Albedo says Paimon has enough elemental energy to move mountains.

Archon quests shows that Dottore can incapacitate her with sound, and stop her in time, i.e. the trilunar authority affects her. She's also implied to be recorded in the Irminsul.

Given what Albedo and Canotila say, people have theorized that Paimon is a part of the Heavenly Principles.

Her Irminsul recording may have been tampered with such that none questions her existence if she is part of the Heavenly Principals.

"Albedo says Paimon has enough elemental energy to move mountains."

When?

I was wrong. I was thinking of Albedo's comment on Paimon during his character quest. The better quote would be Mona's Interesting Things voice line, where she says she can't read Paimon's fate.

- Skirk asked Traveler to NOT tell Paimon her backstory, implying she knows or suspects something

- Barbie read the fortune of Paimon and was flabbergasted

Okay okay so what if the mortal soul passed away? Then what so-?

Also another thing, what if the said angel takes the body of a supposed dead person? Would it work

2

u/One-Might-7057 4d ago

hmm, i dont think it would be a good solution

seelies dont have much energy, and a dead body has even less, it would be probably much harder to puppeteer, and waste the little energy they have

plus the seelie seem to maintain their love for humanity, desacrating a corpse might go against that

the reason angels who kept their wisdom ended up as only spirit wisps, might be that their programming just leads them to waste away selflessly

They dont seem preocupied with themselves, or afraid of fading away, to the point of being willing to sacrifice their lives to serve humans till their own end, like sybilla or zibai

But there is another way, not all angels chose this

If your angel desires so badly to remain alive, then she would of chosen power, that way she would of lived forever, becoming a corrupted dragon, like ursa the drake She could eventually regain some of her personality and humanoid appearence, i suspect this is what nabu malikata did, as she is suggested to have kept her angelic power, in her case she appeared mostly humanoid by the time she was considered a goddess, exept for the horns and her vacant red eyes

But i think its quite hard for an angel who kept their mind to become human, cause they still have all the limitations that were placed upon them to keep them in control, and their goal would remain the same, to help humans not themselves

One who chose power on the other hand would loose all those constraints. We know these angels even preyed on humans freely and killed them without remorse

This things youre saying of necromancy and possesion sound more like a darker angel than a wise one

The limiting thing about the story of a seelie, is that they still behave as an angel would, the closest we've seen to getting back their body is sharing body with a human, ultimatly they are too selfess to act in their own intrest it seems

Those dragons if tried can be purified? I mean we've purified so many things in teyvet, a dragon wouldn't be that much

2

u/One-Might-7057 4d ago

we are a special case, as the traveler is a descender, his power to purify is very special and rare

But still it can be managed though not fully cured(from what i interpret), nabu is an example she managed to purify herself to the point of being capable of coexisting with others, and she beacame very wise But still there were traces of corruption, like her red eyes, horns, and her personality, she was said to have never fully understood nor reciprocated the love deshret and rukhadevatta had for her, though she was very beautifull some of her actions seem to have a sinister undertone, she is said to have planned her own death so the suffering would keep her memory forever ingraved in hearts of those who loved her

It would be a difficult journey, but its possible i believe, probably similar to the way beasts can reach ilumination and become adepti, a corrupted dragon may be able to cultivate their mind and regain some of their wisdom, though not fully, as we know that reaching their past splendor would end up in death, when nabu performed a ritual to regain her inteligence she was struck down by celestia and all she had built was undone

The fact that MHY can introduce continuously new aspects of the lore and create exceptions here and there, means that everything is simultaneously possible and not possible at the same time.

Thank you for your opinion on this :>

I wanna maybe use this idea for a genshin character, I myself am interested in making

Isn't that what happen to the Lord of the night kingdom, she sacrificed her body and now has her knowledge and power as she is protecting natlan

1

u/flowers-for-the-dead 6d ago

I think for her it was smt else? And not the same as what I'm implying

5

u/hadtiah 6d ago

Well it seems the angels needed to give something up to keep other things. Some angels gave up their wisdom and became beings like Ursa the drake in mondstad, and it seems the angels that choose to give up power turned into seeles.

If they can choose to give something else besides those two they can keep them. Like maybe an angel can give up they ability to move their hand or legs and they can keep their power and wisdom

1

u/SecondDescender 4d ago

wait huh? wdym became beings like ursa. i thought ursa was just a regular dragon

2

u/hadtiah 4d ago

"The angels who forsook wisdom in favor of power became corrupted dragons like Ursa, ones without distinct Elemental characteristics. Of course, over time, heroes have hunted them to near extinction. What if I had chosen power like those dragons? ...It's difficult to imagine. I'd like to think my scales would have been a glittering silver, though." -Nicole Reeyn

This is in Nicole's voice line about Nicole IV

The only thing I dont understand why was Nicole able to create that loophole for herself? Was it because they had to sacrifice something that is worth a lot for theirselves, nicole’s being her voice due to how she loves guiding humans through talking? Because the original curse was either losing your power or body I think, that leaves me confused

4

u/hadtiah 6d ago

Well she also mentioned that she lost most of her power so maybe by giving a portion of both she was able to keep the rest

I remember that when we see Nabu her face is missing so maybe she sacrificed her face to keep her form and power

2

u/GrumpySatan 5d ago

The impression from her lines & CS is that the HP dictated that the Angels give up their form, as well as either their power or wisdom (or sometimes its that choosing power = losing form, but those that choose wisdom also lost form anyway. Kinda unclear).

Nicole gave up half of her wisdom and half of her power and her voice in order to keep her form. Her 4th CS mentions how the Angel's wisdom required her to "turn a blind eye" to the innate answers of the world Angels had, and power's price required her to turn a "deaf ear" to the prayers of humanity for aid. And so her price was a lifetime of voicelessness, forced to be an observer to the world.

In essence, she sorta became a human with restrictions. And for a long time after that, she didn't interfere. Until she saw visions and decided she wanted to become more human, so would insert herself into humanity more and more until she was granted a vision, which she takes as acknowledgement she is "human" now and got more bold and free in how she acts.

I'd like to think the angels had to give something that defined them? In a sense like Nicole had to give her voice because she guided people so she couldn't do it but learnt telepathy later in her life to continue doing it? It's just a guess

What happened to the angels is supposed to be a punishment. I don't think Celestia would accept this, because what you're describing is like a possession where the angel puts its soul into another person, essentially leaving their body like a puppet without will (unless the soul of the person possessing goes into the angel's body, which would probably be worse in Celestia's eyes). And Celestia would have to be especially stupid not to realize this trick, especially since to do it, you're essentially sacrificing another individual, which worsens the angel's situation because it's deliberately avoiding punishment.

Everything is possible if it helps sell the current on banner character 🤙

That loophole should work, yes
