Bottle Aversion / Feeding Refusal ❌ 6m CMPI baby is refusing Puramino
Hi! FTM here. We have been going through feeding issues/ bottle refusal and it's breaking me. Breastfeeding never worked out for us, so I exclusively pumped for 4 months (which was soo hard), and I really want to stop pumping as it's taking a toll on my mental health.
We started combo feeding around 5m. Baby has reflux (on PPI) and suspected CMPI. We started with Enfamil Gentlease, then stomach issue and eczema started. Switched to Alimentum RTF, the stomach issue went away but eczema kept spreading. Finally made the switch to amino acid formula Puramino. We have been slowly transitioning with breastmilk and formula mixed (currently at 40/60 ratio).
But LO HATES the taste of it😩 like he'll rather starve than take the bottle..so I'm stuck to pumping and trying to give more breastmilk in each bottle, but I just can't sustain this.
Not sure what other options I have though. I'm hoping he grows out of CMPI but it might not be for months.
Any positive experience where goat milk worked for CMPI babies?

If alimentum didn’t clear symptoms I’m guessing goat milk won’t either because goats milk and cows milk are very similar. Have you tried other HA formulas? Nutramigen? Elecare? I’ve read that Pepticate is a “tastier” one

We haven't tried other other HA formulas yet. Since Alimentum still gave him eczema, we moved to an amino acid based formula. I live in Canada and pepticate isn't available here :(

Have you tried dream feeds? We had to do this for a couple weeks until baby eventually accepted neocate. Amino acid formula is vile, I don’t blame these little guys for hating it

Yes baby only drinks when he's sleepy, which is hard during the day esp now that he's getting more active each week🥲. Glad that your LO eventually accepted the formula!hope ours does the same soon.

My 4 month old was switched to neocate and the same thing happened. She dropped 10oz in the first week. Went from drinking 32 to 22 a day and all that was perseverance over the hour. She drank about 2/3oz per bottle and seemed to eat because she had to and then refused the rest! We switched to nutrimagen and that seemed to have done the trick. Took 7oz of the first bottle of nutrimagen!!

Glad Nutramigen worked out for you guys! I thought Nutramigen wasn't an amino acid formula, did you see any symptoms come back with this formula?

It isn't! So we switched straight from kendamil to amino acid formula but she hated it. They then switched to the hydrolysed and so far, no adverse affects! She was so bad before. Screaming in pain at every fart and poop. Eczema and crying in the night with wind. We would know instantly if that came back. She is a little reflux-y just now but only because she started Nutramigen 7 days ago and all good so far 🤞🏻

At 6m babies usually start solids. Would it help to mix up the formula with some stronger tasting purees (eg. apple?)
