Advice / Question 💡 New Kirkland gentle formula

Has anyone tried this new Kirkland procare gentle formula? We use enfamil gentlease for our 7mo and would love to switch to the much more cost effective Kirkland. My wife is concerned about it upsetting our son’s tummy but I am a big fan of store brand everything and convinced it’s all made the same. Waiting for a response from the pediatrician to see if they okay the switch over

Looking at the label, Sam’s members mark version is closer to Enfamil than this one is. But boy did I get excited to see this.

We used Enfamil gentlease neuropro and switched to members mark gentle premium. Baby did spit up a bit for about two-three weeks but it went away.

We got Enfamil brand from WIC benefits and bought storebrand in-between benefit rounds (also Member's Mark) and thus switched back and forth every few weeks.

Not all babies would have tolerated this well, of course, but ours was perfectly fine the entire time we formula fed and it saved us a lot of money.

Now that he's turned 1 and we've quit formula, we think this may be why he had no resistance whatsoever to drinking cow's milk. He had a less-cemented idea of how milk should taste due to the frequent switching.

Kirkland formula is made by Perrigo. You can head over to their website and compare against name brand. They manufacture most of the generic formula in the US and Canada.

All store brand formula in US is made by Perrigo, and has the exact same website — storebrandformula.com

We used enfamil gentlease for our guy until about 7 mos and found the store brand actually made him less gassy and had better poops. For us it was a yes. We’ve interchangeably used Walmart/albertsons/kroger store brand version—because we don’t have Sam’s or Costco locally. All are the same, sometimes the scoop is different (yellow with longer handle, or spoon handled white scoop, but all same size as real enfamil version).

My pediatrician compared switching these types of formula to switching from coke to Pepsi. These are essentially the same. He said maybe there would be an adjustment if you were switching to soy or something but this should be fine.

If you do switch, keep in mind you want to stick with it for at least 2 weeks. There will likely be a bit of tummy upset but baby should be fine once their body gets used to it.

Ugh seriously?? Why couldn’t they have done this last year when we really needed it??

Seriously! My girl is 2 now but this would have been great!

Same. My son is almost two and seeing this makes me so jealous! I’m happy for the parents that will be able to use it.

I haven’t used this one but I did make the switch from similac to the regular Kirkland procare and I noticed increased spit up and changes in my baby’s poop for a couple of weeks when I switched. I just kept up with it and eventually, her stomach settled. Keep that in mind if you decide to switch!

Which Similac did you switch from? We’ve been on total 360 (blue) and my plan has always been to transition to Kirkland when we run out of coupons and free samples, lol.

We also used the blue total 360. Definitely make the switch! It’s sooooo much cheaper. We were paying $56 for a 40 oz tub of similac at Costco and now we’re paying just $30 for a 42 oz tub. Our Costco membership paid for itself in like a month just from saving on formula.

I just found this in our store today!!! It must be brand new! We used to use the blue kirkland can, ended up having to switch to enfamil gentlelease and just grabbed a can of this!!! Our daughter is also 7months old!

How is your daughter doing on it? We’re considering making the switch!

Man of course this comes out when I’m 2 months from being done with formula feeding forever lol

I can’t find this on Costco’s website or in my warehouse. Which state were you able to find it in? I use Similac 360 Sensitive for my little one currently.

Fort Wayne Indiana

I bought some a couple days ago at the Covington, LA Costco!

Not sure if you've looked recently, but they have the two tub deal on the website now

In my neck of the woods it's $67.99 for 84oz/2 x 42oz tubs

Our baby uses Similac and the Kirkland brand made her sooo sick. We tried multiple times and it was horrible

We use kirkland procare (not the gentle one, the one in the blue box) and my son is THRIVING off of it! We switched about a month ago and genuinely he is so much happier of a baby than on breastmilk

When I switched from similac 360 to members mark advantage premium, we had a week or two of extra spit up but that’s about it! And we saved sooo much money. I’d definitely say it’s worth a shot.

If you’re concerned about transitioning, you can taper. 75% current formula, 25% new formula. Then 50/50, then 25/75

Just bought this today. My twins are on Similac 360 Sensitive hopefully this formula works out for them. Looking forward to saving money as there is a huge price difference🤑

u/Bringmethe_ramen11 25d ago

I use similac sensitive as well! I hope it’s comparable

1

u/divemaster08 20d ago

Let me know how it’s going with the switch. Our LO is on the 360 sensitive to!

1

u/DarkMuret 19d ago

Have you tried the Target generic for the Gentle formula? My twins are on that and do pretty ok, we were on hypo for a while and Target was the only store in my area that had generic for hypoallergenic

Of course, my girls are almost 10 months so our formula days are soon over, but it absolutely adds up so quick

Update? My son is also on the Similac 360 sensitive, wondering how your transition went.

We tried to switch from enfamil nueropro to the Kirkland blue and unfortunately it didn’t agree with our little guy. I’d say try it if you dint mind that trail period switching formula takes.

I’m stock today at my local Chicago store.

u/somebodysannegirl 24d ago

I hope this comes online soon! My twins do well on the blue label Kirkland but my friend’s twins need the gentlease. And formula for twins is not cheap!

1

u/HopeHonest6554 23d ago

How did pricing compare?

3

u/UnderstandingGreat58 23d ago

The 2 pack of enfamil gentlease was $59. the Kirkland brand for the around the same net weight it was $31

My 8 week old has reflux and is on 0.3ml Pepcid twice a day. He’s still having a lot of spit up and fussiness when he does. Wondering if this would help him. He’s been on Kendamil Classic (pink can) since the hospital. I contemplated goat version but the constant shortages stress me, and now I saw this!!!! Can’t beat the price!! Thoughts?

1

u/Ill_Dark_1031 20d ago

Yes! Made the switch from enfamil gentlease by doing a combo mix (25% new, 75% old for a couple days, then 50/50 a couple days, and then 75% new 25% old) to phase out into the kirkland brand and baby has been doing great. It definitely take a little longer to dissolve so make sure you have warm water but she's been loving it! So glad they have this!

Came here to say 10000000% ProCare over Enfamil Gentle ease!! Endamil has SIGNIFICANTLY lower levels of metal. ProCare is one of the very few formulas that do not contain any traceable metals.

Curious as well!!! We use enfamil gentlease and would love to save some $$

Ew first ingredient is corn syrup

Nope! First ingredient is corn. Corn products aren't allowed in my home because I am allergic.
