Bottles / Feeding Gear / Equipment đŒ Buy the counter top dishwasher!!
Just as a PSA, if you can find an affordable counter top dishwasher get it!! I thought my husband was a little nutty months ago when he bought this beautiful machine off of facebook marketplace. Our little girl was 4-5 weeks old at the time and I thought he must just be sleep deprived and tired of washing bottles. Boy was I wrong! Yes it takes up my counter space next to the sink and that drives me bananas but itâs worth it. I just rinse the bottles and put them in this little things and away they go! My main dishwasher is just kinda older and I didnât love the idea of washing her bottles with our regular dishes at first. This little dishwasher is super easy to keep clean and I donât need to do a full load of dishes to run it! Or worry about putting regular dishes away to empty the dishwasher to make room for bottles. It holds 8 bottles and some accessories. I absolutely love it.

100%
We have a different brand (Momcozy) and it is the best thing Iâve ever done for myself postpartum.

u/SuzieDerpkins Apr 04 '26
The momcozy is what we have too and we love it.
They didnât have these for my first born and OMG it changes everything!!

My LO is almost 1 year old and itâs maybe even more important than the baby brezza (b/c the pitcher method is a thing and our little guy drinks cold formula).
Thereâs no replacement for a bottle washer

For us hand washing + sterilizer work great as well, but this looks amazing if it's sterilizing as well!
4
u/hoser1553 Apr 06 '26
We thought so too, then someone got the momcozy off our registry and holy shit it was life changing.
5
u/Pretty_Please1 Apr 04 '26
Only autoclaves can sterilize, youâre looking for sanitization.
5
u/mcfrems Apr 05 '26
My dishwasher has a sterilize button. Is it lying to me?
11
u/Pretty_Please1 Apr 05 '26
Yes. You cannot make any item sterile using a dishwasher. However, the good news is, if your baby lives with you at home and not in the NICU, they do not need sterile bottles or pump parts. Sanitization with a little soap and hot water works perfectly!

Very much true!... My first child was born at 31&4... They had little two ounce Similac branded "sterile water"... Also , he was only allowed to have ready to feed until he came home at three months. [ exclusively tube fed child]...
So you can imagine how incredibly blown away I was when i had my term baby... And as they do not supply baby bottles ...- i had to rewash the same one , about ten times a day with the supplied Palmolive soap & paper towels. They told me that was completely safe... I still use free & clear w/ bottle brushes & dedicated baby bottle sponge / dr browns microwave sterilizer, or the "self sterilizer" mams if i clean as i go.
tldr- my second baby was not premature.I was completely blown away. All they did was tell me I needed to use this tiny bottle of Palmolive & paper towels for a like three hour old baby!!
-2
u/Fluffy_One_7764 Apr 07 '26
Have you seen the chemical ingredients list of Palmolive, and deciphered it, and looked at the potential toxicity? I would not use Palmolive or Dawn (or any colored or scented dishsoap) for my baby.
1
u/Latter-Anxiety8728 CMPA NUTRAGEIUM baby & tube FF 5 y/o Apr 07 '26
The point was that, a term baby & premature baby had major differences, which was insane to me at their births about what was legally safe for them to be exposed to... what choice did I have for a five day hospital stay & one bottle my baby would accept? Now that we are home, I use Free & Clear dishsoap & free and clear laundry soap... & the browns sterilizer. For the five days we were there, yes I used the soap given to me by the staff.

u/Fluffy_One_7764 Apr 07 '26
Thank you for clarifying. You are doing a great job. It is shameful that medical professionals and hospitals do not know better, and do not offer parents safe/healthy options. When we were in the hospital for those 5 days, we used sterile, disposable bottles and nipples, from similac, that we could put our own formula into, or use the ready to feed, 2 oz, formula bottles that were sterile and added a new, sterile disposable nipple each time, and threw it all out after feeding. We know now to either take in our own sterile, disposale/single use bottles/nipples (available online), or rely on the hospital to provide them.
1
u/Latter-Anxiety8728 CMPA NUTRAGEIUM baby & tube FF 5 y/o Apr 07 '26
They had those, but my baby was choking on them... So I didnt think they would even have them & they DO NOT like other hospitals have samples of bottles, pacifiers ,formula as they are 10 step baby friendly hospital system... It was a big deal to be "allowed" to use the one mam bottle... Literally a "prescibed" item đ I ended up needing to use one of the RTF with those single use nipples at 3m, and she was able to use it... She just had a lot of feeding issues, Likley related to her CMPA... She went from 3rd to 15th % !
Was 20th at BW.
Yeah, if I were to do it again I would bring some Small bit of free & clear! .... I thought it was weird & with the papertowels... It blocked the nipple once. Five days was a LONG five days.

Yep the rinse cycle gets hot enough to sanitize đđ»đđ» This thing is my hero!! I donât remember the exact tempt but my husband looked it up and it is higher than the recommended temperature to kill chronobactor, ect.

Just a note for people who want to EFF and are absolutely daunted by the stuff they read online. I have had two EFF babies. It takes me thirty seconds to clean a bottle. It's not as deep or difficult as online mums make out! So don't let that influence your decision.

my main dishwasher is old and I canât clean the food trap out in it so I got this until we can replace our main dishwasher. Also I have been struggling with severe post partum depression and anxiety so knowing they are getting cleaned and sanitized gives me peace of mind. My first baby I washed his bottles by hand and dried them and he got thrush a lot. The doctor told me itâs was because I needed to sanitize his bottles once in a while. Once I did that he stopped getting thrush. So I wanted to avoid that this time around.
What I donât understand is if youâre a human being and have a heart then why be rude to another human being? You donât know anyoneâs circumstances.

u/SlayBay1 Apr 07 '26
I'm not being rude to you. A huge amount of Breastapo propaganda is all about how absolutely convenient breastfeeding is compared to formula feeding due to washing bottles. Wash them whatever way suits you but can we not make out like washing bottles takes up more than five minutes of your day?
15
u/Pretty_Please1 Apr 04 '26
If you have a regular dishwasher, it works just fine to wash dishes.
15
u/JustForArkona Apr 05 '26
Yes. It's cheaper to buy more bottles and use the regular ol dishwasher nightly
2
u/HeavyPause9718 Apr 06 '26
this is what we are looking into doing, we just donât want anymore kitchen gadgets đ„
9
u/WillRunForPopcorn Apr 05 '26
Yeah idk why I seem like the only person on Reddit sometimes who just uses their dishwasher⊠we have like 12 bottles and donât care how many times we run the dishwasher.
6
u/ShetallAF56 Apr 05 '26
Right? We have to run the dishwasher once a day regardless, so we just add the bottles to what we have already always done. Iâm confused why these are needed.
1
u/thollywoo Apr 06 '26
Mine melted one of the caps and left water stains on all her bottles.
1
u/Pretty_Please1 Apr 06 '26
Water stains is more of a concern about your water quality. Washing dishes by hand and not immediately drying them thoroughly would do the same thing. A water softener would help!!
They also make nice, cheap dishwasher baskets to hold little pieces to prevent them from falling on to the heating element in the wash!
1
u/thollywoo Apr 07 '26
If we wash the bottles by hand and leave them on the drying rack then there are no water stains. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Absolutely nothing about my comment was rude or unkind; I merely pointed out a fact. Your post makes zero mention of a food trap that is unable to be cleaned out, just that the machine is âkinda olderâ.
I highly recommend getting treatment for your PPD and PPA if you arenât already. You will feel much, much better with correct medication and therapy.

u/EarlGreyWMilk Apr 04 '26
Agreed! We have the baby brezza and itâs amazing. Still using it daily at 8 months, just fewer loads. Total time and life saver.

I had ideas of magically breastfeeding and not needing anything like this but then TikTok Black Friday hit me with a great sale on the Momcozy Washer/Dryer/Sanitizer. I got it and hoped I might not need it......LOL my geriatric ass couldn't make more than 1oz a pump and now exclusively formula feed. Im so so so so glad I did! Thing is the best purchase I ever made.

Yes he researched how hot the rinse cycle is and it is hot enough to sanitize them. I would double check with any specific model though and make sure it can sanitize

u/T00thd0c23 Apr 04 '26
I had my Grownsy washer, dryer, sterilizer since November (got it during Black Friday) and didnât use it till 1 month postpartum cause I had a limited number of bottles that needed to be washed as soon as it was used. Finally stocked up on more bottles so I can pile 3-4 dirty ones and finally started using the washer-sterilizer. OMG what a game changer!!! Itâs night and day. One less thing to worry about. Now why I waited that long to use it is a different story. I had an emergency induction at 38 weeks and wasnât 100% ready for baby to arrive so when he did, it was chaos lol!
5
u/bloontsmooker Apr 04 '26
I just wash bottles as she uses them, and throw them in the sanitizer - I canât justify the counter space for a 5 minute/day task.
4
u/SlayBay1 Apr 05 '26
I have a bingo card of straight forward things that internet mums make a mountain out of a molehill about. Bottle cleaning is there right beside the GTT.

Washing bottles/ pump parts by hand in winter= cracking BLEEDING sandpaper hands. Get a grip.
0
u/SlayBay1 Apr 07 '26
Wtf...What are you on about? If that's happening to you - wear gloves mate. It's one bottle every two to three hours. You have a skin problem there. Protect your hands.

u/Organic-Mud-1834 Apr 07 '26
We're talking about bottle washers. Get a grip

I'm not being rude. You're projecting. There is no standing around if you're EFF. It takes as long to wash a cup. I'm providing facts to those who want to EFF. I know so so so many people who struggle through breastfeeding because they believe it's more convenient. My comment was neither directed or about you personally.

u/Organic-Mud-1834 Apr 05 '26
If you're pumping is definitely more than 5 minutes a day to wash everything

me too "worst" I do is have a cheap Walmart bowl with like 4 bottles. I think that our bottles are pretty good qualit..... After being used every day several times a day.. Three months especially for plastic bottles. Do you use Dapple? it's quite pricey , so I found for half the price free & clear Palmolive
1
u/Classic-Coach-1097 Apr 05 '26
doesnât the sanitizer take up the same amount of counter space that the washer/sanitizer/dryer takes up?
1
u/bloontsmooker Apr 05 '26
Bottle washer has to be near the sink to drain water. Sanitizer is much smaller and can go in alternate spaces.
2
u/Classic-Coach-1097 Apr 05 '26
ah ok makes sense. someone had initially given us a bottle sanitizer, and it was much bigger than the momcozy bottle washer, so when I discovered that there was a smaller machine that could do the washing AND the sanitizing and drying, I was like, why would I ever want just the sanitizer lol

Yeah, i know! I think its better, [probably equal to browns]... as far as washing goes. I have a sponge cut in half for the bottom hole thing and silicone thing along with the Boone bottle brush set [also, mainly chose that drying rack set bc its just so darn cute] but they dry well on there & imo okay to use a sanitized but not totally dry bottle?
I felt so.... seen to see those mam parts in your post đ
1
u/Top_Kaleidoscope_602 Apr 06 '26
Thank you! I feel so seen reading your reply. The comments about how itâs not that deep and it takes as much time to wash a cup as it does a bottle⊠like guys you donât understand. It IS that deep đ đ these little parts suck. I wish my little one would do well with a simpler bottle but she doesnât so Iâm washing all these little parts

I know! Have you tried Evenflo Balance WIDE? My child accepts these just fine and doesn't seem to be confused. They anticholic , part would be making sure the vent in the nipple is lined up with the indent ... I have six of those in 5 oz & like.... 15-20 MAM. So I think we'll just be sticking with MAM, ... But i'm going to put all of those Evenflo wide balance at my mom and dads saves time there?
2
u/Boomdog_ Apr 06 '26
To each their own and by all means treat yourself to whatever makes you happy in the newborn trenches but I truly donât get why people swear by bottle washers. My daughter was exclusively bottle fed and I never found it an issue to just wash her bottles and my pump parts in the dishwasher. Once we knew which kind of bottle she liked I just bought enough to make it through a full day and ran them in the dishwasher each night. Like we already have an appliance that washes dishesâŠ?
2
u/nadirecur Apr 06 '26
I have this same countertop dishwasher and also recommend it! Except using Cascade dishwashing detergent destroyed my baby's Philips Avent silicone bottle nipples and made them smell and taste like detergent. Definitely look for an unscented detergent for washing baby things.

I agree. It's one of those appliances that really sounds unnecessary until you're in the trenches with a little one. With both babies, it felt like it was a full-time job washing bottles, until my wife had enough with the second and about a month after she was born, and splurged on a little countertop dishwasher. I thought it'd be a white elephant, but nope. It's been such a time saver. And I so wish we had one with the first!

Our main dishwasher is older, and I canât clean the food trap out so I was too paranoid to put the bottles in there and possibly have them growing bacteria or something. Probably irrational post partum anxiety but thatâs ok lol

we have this (as our main dishwasher) and a bottle washer. for anyone split between the twoâ a bottle washerâs cycle is a lot faster. the dishwasher has a âbabyâ mode but itâs 87? minutes long compared to our bottle washer thatâs 29 (+10 for steam cycle).
the upside to the dishwasher is that you can use it for other stuff too after the bottle phase is over. or if you can put it in an RV if you have one (we donât but my boss does and thatâs how i found out about these lol)
