4-3 Defense?
For context before i even start im a sophomore in high school and our whole team (coaches and players) have left/transferred. we are running a new defense this year and my coaches want to me Hammer/ 4Tech on the DL. i am wondering if i currently have the build for that and what i need to work on as i’ve never played D-Line in my life only Linebacker. my build is 5’10 195lbs (more chubby then strong) i bench 175, squat 245, and power clean 155.

There’s no universal terminology in football, and there’s no universal way to play with 4-3 personnel. You need to talk to your coaches and refer to them. Odds are high that on here some arm chair fan will tell you “how to do it,” and will be completely wrong. There are no official “build requirements,” or “lifting requirements,” for positions either. The coaches literally asked you to play that position…they believe you can do it. They wouldn’t ask you for funsies or to screw you. They’ll coach you up…it’s in the job title.
