WoFF World of Final Fantasy Megathread (Spoilers Ahead!)
For the next two weeks, consider this your one-stop shop for all things concerning World of Final Fantasy!
Want to discuss story elements, combat, why Tama keeps adding "the" to words, or anything else? This is the place to do it!
In order to keep all talks about WoFF (even minor spoilers like new Mirages, story characters, weapons, etc.) contained, we ask that you carry out all of your WoFF discussions in this thread for the next two weeks. In doing so, we will also (hopefully) create a solid beginner's database of helpful tips too!

Sora from Kingdom Hearts will appear as a free DLC summon for World of Final Fantasy.
Commemorating the release of KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue early next year, Sora will be available for download for a limited time only, appearing in his KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD outfit. Further information on how to obtain the Sora champion summon will follow at a later date.

Once you unlock the coloseum after 3 battles you have a 30% chance of having Shiva and ifrit spawn. Capture them and watch them carry you(literally) through the game.

I love this game so much, have been playing it non-stop. I like how with the Sephiroth medal you can't skip supernova lol so can't wait to find all the little easter eggs!

So I downloaded the patch on my Vita for WoFF. The patch stated it fixed some bugs and tweaked Sephiroth's design. When I go into the Config menu I STILL cannot select English voices as they are defaulted to off. I've been told this is because the English Voice Over trck was stated to be included in a Day One patch. Guess what? Still no patch. So I don't have any English VO for cutscenes or anything else. I'm not going to play with Japanese voices and then switch over, thats just stupid.
Any ideas on when that patch is coming? Because I won't be playing the game until Square rectifies a very stupid decision.

All we can do is sit and bide our time until we get an answer. Kind of silly that I can play the game using the DLC Japanese voice pack yet I can't play using the intended English voice pack.

I absolutely hate Tama's speech. It makes me want to mute the game and stop playing.
That said, I'm having fun and slowly going through the game.

A few hours in and this is the only thing that I dislike about the game so far. And boy do I dislike it. S/he uses it during tutorial scenes as well, I can't understand a damn thing it's saying. Fast forward is the only thing saving me.

I also hate how there's a cutscene explaining how something works in-game, and then you get a handy popup that explains how that same things works again.
I'm loving the actual game parts, though, just hate that one character so much.

Check your emails if you've ordered the Collector's Edition from the SQEX store, they're sending out DLC codes for the "Johnny Cactuar" and "Crimson Armor" mirages. (These were formerly PSN preorder exclusives)

So apparently you cant use your PS wallet funds to buy the vita version of the game. For some reason the PS store shows it as rated "CERO-Z" and you need to buy it with a credit card to prove you are at least 18. This is pretty frustrating because i just put $50 in my wallet.
The game is rated E for everyone, WTF Sony.

Just discovered the stupidest thing about this game... even worse than Tamas dialog.
Please explain to me how a small monster can have abilities like sizzle, and chill.. yet you upgrade them and they magically lose it. I understand combat abilities not transferring.. but those over world abilities should be passives..
Does anyone know if you can get seeds for those abilities?

Not sure if anyone else from the UK has pre-ordered the game, but it seems like a few places are having issues with the Day-One edition.
Just received this: Our stock has arrived from our supplier this morning and unfortunately it is only Standard Edition, not Day One Edition that we were informed and had listed. This stock does NOT include the extra day one content that was advertised:
• Sephiroth summon
• White Chocobo
• Glow Moogle
• Red Tonberry
• Japanese VO DLC: play the game with the Japanese voice-overs.
We understand that this will come as disappointing news and we have been let down by our supplier on this occasion. We have attempted to get Day One Edition stock from other suppliers, but we have been unsuccessful in doing so at such short notice and we can only fulfil your order with this Standard Edition stock. We have updated our product listing accordingly.
Also heard elsewhere that the ShopTo orders are just the standard edition.

If you just got Day One edition and not the limited then the PSN store has Day One digital edition listed. I would buy that as it comes with the bonus items then just cancel the preorder due to the delays. Thats if your copy wont be in before the 27th.

Yep. There is not a single phenomena that could explain that. "The" comes before verbs, adverbs, nouns, adjectives and even complementizers and relativizers in a very inconsistent way. It is god awful.

The speech quirk is because she ends all sentences with desu in Japanese. Guess they wanted to try and translate it and did an awful job I just got used to ignoring it in the subs

I got the ps4 day 1 edition. Color me surprised that my dlc download code also gave me access to the full digital game as well. Is that normal or just a fluke/oversight on someone's part? Either way currently enjoying the game with the disc back in the case.
Update: Looks like they caught on to their mistake and it's been fixed. Looks like you can still play the downloaded edition if you got it before the change. Can't yet verify if it can still be downloaded.

I'm loving the english voices and all the puns they use. I was worried about Tama at first, but her funny usage of "the" isn't bothering me.

I'm only about 45 minutes into the game but I can't seem to figure out how to configure my party! This may be a huge oversight on my part but is there a way to have more than just the 2 main characters at the beginning of a battle without having them stacked to start off with? If my mirages aren't stacked before the battle they won't appear on the field.

I think you have to start stacked. Then you can unstack if you want. But I haven't seen a solid benefit to unstacking yet.

From what I know you can transfig a mirage into its different variations after you have unlocked them on the board. It will give you all your points back when you change it.

Imprisming still gives you experience, so there's not really a downside to trying. Except maybe the time it takes?

You will be able to get them later on. Some are extremely useful, others not so much. I'd definitely recommend getting the one in Valley Seven.

Anyone know if it's better to use evolved mirages or to just use the pre-evolved ones you've been leveling? If I have a level 12 sharqual should I replace it with a level 1 mega sharqual?

It's almost always better to use the one you have been leveling. It's still good to capture the evolved forms as that unlocks the ability to freely transfigure between the two without hitting the level requirement.
IIRC, it's only mentioned one time in the 14 hours I've been playing, but your mirage keeps all stat increases, even ones from different mirage boards/evolutions. You just don't get to keep abilities from one evolution to the next.

(sorry I'm really bad with names, but hopefully you'll be able to see what I'm saying)
I wasn't able to use smash outside of battle until I evolved my copper golem to the mythril whatever, BUT I was able to use blizzara as my little babyshiva thing even though blizzara was learned as the 2nd evolution.

If people have not realized yet, I've seen it mentioned once, you can fight the special mirages multiple times. Have caught one and killed one black chicobo. It seems to be on a respawn timer, but you do get more than one chance to capture one if you don't want to transfig it.

How do you get the DLC to download? I'm having major issues getting it to download. I've redeemed the code, but can't view the DLC from the store. Nor can I view it from the title screen. My ps4 just kind of keeps loading...
Every time I try to google it, it gives me info on FFXV oncoming DLC rumors...

I had a similar problem but couldn't find anywhere with a clear answer. I will leave this here for any future seekers of answers and clarification:
If you are wondering where the DLC Mirages are, you'll have to wait until you UNLOCK THE COLOSSEUM. The Colosseum is where you battle Mirages and do Multiplayer. You eventually get this through story early on if you progress storywise and remember to visit Chocolatte in the North Promenade often.
If you are wondering where DLC Sephiroth is, you will have to UNLOCK THE TEA ROOM of The Girl Who Forgot Her Name (or something to that extent. Feel free to correct me.) and when doing so, she will allow you to buy Champion medals. The conditions to doing so is below this paragraph. If you've unlocked the door and it's your first time at the tea room, go ahead and buy the Warrior of Light's medal. This will prompt some tips and it should unlock being able to use Champions for you. Then go into your Settings and when you select to equip the Warrior of Light's medal, you'll see that Sephiroth will be one of the choices. You can equip them both. The tea room is a door between the entrance to the park and the entrance to the North Promenade. This appears sometime during the early story.
The moral here is don't worry about it till you've done a good bit of story. At the very least is you've been doing story and returning to Nine Something Woods then you'll be fine. Patience. I believe if you've been doing so, you'll unlock these places by the time you get to the end of unlocking your First Champion.
Now if you are having problems downloading the DLC and the in game downloadable content option won't help you, just find a way to re-download the DLC from your console / PC store.
I can only tell you how to do it the PS4 way because I have the game on mine: 1. Go to the icon of the game on your home screen. 2. Press the down key of your controller to where the thropies and newsfeed regarding the game is located at. 3. View the your DLC content box selectable in that area. The screen will then redirect you to a page with only the DLC related to the game listed.
The name of the DLC box I can't remember specifically right now. It could very well just be Your Downloads or something like that rather. At the very least I hope this helps people out.

I've had this question for a while now. I have two shivas. The story mode shiva and one I leveled from leveling up my bablizz and unlocking her mirage board from bablizz. My question is will the shiva that I leveled from bablizz end up being more powerful than the story shiva that I have? or will the story shiva become more powerful stat wise? or if there is even a difference.

reviewing really well. All the times I've been downvoted or told that a modern audience wont accept turn-based battles when I say there should be turn-based battles in the FF7 remake. Next time, I'm going to ask 'what about world of final fantasy?'

Question about the SP: it's never (I'm only 2 or so hours in) really explained how you accumulate it and how many points you get every level up. I want to grind out a few mirages to get them evolved, but the SP accumulation system is a little...strange? Seems like it takes forever just to get one point.

I haven't started playing yet since I'm stuck at work but from what I've read elsewhere the mirages start with 3 SP and then gain 1 each time they level up.

To add onto this, you have to be able to survive a fight with the enemy long enough to capture it... and most enemies when capped start at level 1 (from my experience). So... no, probably not.

That sucks, but I should note that the digital PS4 store version did have that DLC with it if you preordered.
Sorry to hear she didn't get it, though. There may be day one copies in your local retailers that were preordered, stocked, and then cancelled.

You can also transfigure the cockatrice in valefor after you get the memento from the battle with a certain someone. It'll show on your mirage board

Holy crap, these subtitles are really awful. I'm playing with the Japanese voicing and the subs read completely differently than what the characters are saying.
Edit: it got better. Not sure if it will get worse again.

Aside from trading like /u/arkhira said, I imagine you could double-up on certain Mirages to be OP in certain areas/fights. I.e. if something has a fire weakness, you could grab two Fire-sporting Mirages for constant bonus damage.

Loving the game so far, only minor complaint is I wish they would pause in between each line of Japanese dialog and keep it up until you press X. Sometimes my ADD kicks in and I'll totally miss out on some of the dialog. I tried switching over to the English voice overs and I'm not sure why but while the puns are funny with the Japanese voice overs they are a little cringy at times with the English ones.

There was a post the other day about this I think, but after each boss fight there are "secret" areas (not that secret just open the map) with Mirages that apparently you only have one attempt to fight/capture.

You have to do it through the prism case at doors and save points. I believe you press options when you hover over the mirage.

I occasionally find rare mirages here and there, but sometimes I don't meet the requirements to imprism them, so I end up killing them. So far, I've killed Magic Pot and Cerberus.
Am I totally fucked, or do the Memento items I get eventually let me transfigure some other mirage into the rare one that I killed?

Does anything carry over when transfiguring? The abilities don't seem to carry over at all from what I can see? For example Moogle --> Kupirate the two Moogle skills don't carry over at all, rhapsody or forest nocturne

Abilities that are in green are only available for that specific transfiguration. Abilities in white carry over in between transfigures that belong in the same evolution chain (ie not two separate ones, like White and Black Nakk)

Stacking is a little weird. I'm maybe 5 hours in to the game but idk what works better. Should I stack Physical damage mirages with other physical mirgaes and Stack Magic with magic mirages(which is what i've been doing)? Or does it work better to stack mirages with the same Element? I was trying to go for full physical/magic damage, but I realized I lacked healing or defense which makes me use potions often. Now I honestly just want to go with the meta, if there is one yet. Any tips?

You probably don't have too many Mirage options 5 hours in, but I've done exactly what you're looking to do. One stack is stronger physically, while another is stronger magically. However, I have at least Cure on both stacks, as healing gets dicey against bosses. Protect/Shell are amazing in this game as well.
Also, I've found the Ability Seeds to be worth buying if you're really lacking in the magic department. Most Mirages have a Blank Space.

I've found making a stack focus on the Magic stat is profoundly better than one with a focus on Strength. As long as whatever you're fighting has 0 resisitance to an element, the elemental attacks (-ra spells and the elemental beam spells from Magitek Armors) always do 1 or 2000 damage if you have put enough into magic.
The Crimson Armor (from either the DLC or Day-One Edition) has a "Magitek Laser," I think that's its name, that is non-elemental so it almost always does that high of damage. I've even had it do just under 4K damage on a boss.
Do have to note however, if you max out the Mirage Board for the Crimson Armor, you're given the option of increasing your Magic stat by 60(!) points. Though, even before this, my Magic stack has always had better damage output (and obviously heals) than my Strength stack.
Edit: In reference, I'm on Chapter 18 and around level 40.

It kind of depends, I think.
If the enemies have a weakness to your magic spells, then yes, magic is powerful. But, there's also a large AP cost to that. Lann's stack hits much harder with melee than Reynn's magic one does for my builds, considering no weaknesses. And I gain AP with Attack, so Lann almost always has reserves for backup healing/toppling/Megas.
I also got the LE, so I don't have Crimson Armor :P
Like all FF, both physical and magic are good options, it mostly comes down to play style and area you are in.

Passive abilities like the Right Claw's "No Escape". Do these work if the right claw is in a stack, but not in the actual combat, or only if it's actually IN combat? Or even better, once it's learned is it passive and will work forever?
Also, I'm trying to catch a deathskull in the pyroglow forest and don't seem to have encountered anything yet to do the "oblivion" status. Any hints?

Just got a hold of the day one edition (physical copy). I claimed the dlc code and the PS4 marks each bonus as installed. Should they be listed in the downloadable content in the game or not?
If they should be listed, what do I need to do? I just started chapter 2 so I'm probably not far enough to know for sure that they work.
